should be very comparable IMO. have to wait and see. the 14's confuse me alot because Ive seen some like pat's 14 run 9.25@150 first time out but others that Ive came across have a hard time doing that with a 40 shot :? i would normally say OK well the guy on the 14 cant ride in this case but he actually was doing fine as best i could tell. trap speeds about the same on the 40shot 14 that Ive seen to pat's 14 and both bikes set up similar........maybe pat and some of the other 14 owners that are running high 8's low 9's have found some more HP somewhere that others haven't :?:

06 Busa......8 second street bike.(Sold but missed)

Should be comparable.  Busa built for TQ (longer stroke) and 14 built for HP (bigger bore).  But Suzuki is finally made their compression and cams similar to Kawi... :thumb:

I guess I had one of the fast 14's and I did not do any tricks to find power. Just Brock's Smeg and track map on 87 pump gas. I never ran anything but 87 and went 9.14 at 152 at 63 inch wheel base and I am 216 unsuited. If I would have keep it i know I could have went in the 9'0s and with a 40 shot I say a 8.80 to 8.90.  I did have the air cleaner out. Otherwise mirrors were still on and tool kit was under the seat. I hope my New Busa at least runs that good and I will be happy. My 14 had zero problems with 300 + passes and 5000 miles.

Yes i wonder the same thing about other zx14s ...Mine has gone 8.70s  while others run 9.20s ...So to prove a point i rode a  friends  zx14 set up just like mine in the 1/8 mile and it ran the same numbers as mine.... So it has to be the rider ...

The 08 Busa is going to be a great match for the zx14  IF  and that's a BIG IF the rider weights and skills are close ... I think box stock ( out of the crate ) the new busa will win because of the lack of botton end power of a stock zx14 ..Unless the Zx14 rider knows how to slip the clutch ....Mod for mod they will be very close and the better rider will win.... :D

14s have huge bottom end power when you take out the restrictions.

One of the Jap mags are reporting the 08 14 will have more power.

With the sales that Kawasaki generates (or lack of) they need to do something...

Kawasaki already Built a faster bike and it did not matter, The hayabusa will always out sell whatever kawasaki builds. Maybe that would not be the cse if they would not have let the Busa have the spotlight for so many years first.

Or they had adressed the #4 rod oiling and exploding clutch basket on the 12R's...

Food for thought, the 14 might come around much better than we think,  after all they have the bigger motor to work with this time.  That was the selling point for the busa in the past over the 12r.  Now the cards are reverse, so I can see where it would be able for the 14 to keep upping the power on the kaw, where as the busa was only stroked. I still think a bigger CC motor would have been better in the long run..

I think it had more to do with the class/rules break down going over 1350cc.  Keeping it 1340cc opens it up for a lot more records before jumping to the...what 1650cc class...
