Cherry Bomb Mufflers Installed w/Video
« on: October 17, 2007, 01:07:44 PM »
Well I have been messing around with a few different exhausts lately. I believe I have found a winner!

Cost me $40 for the mufflers, $15 for the bends, $15 for clamps, and $10 in paint. Not too bad for $80 and a few hours worth the work.

Video Clip!!! http://media.putfile.com/Hayabusa-Cherry-Bomb-Exhaust-Video

I'm going to nip off the end of the muffler body, and flip the end around and create a dish look at the end of the muffler. Then after some sandblasting I will send them out to be ceramic coated flat black.

What do you think? :thumb:

Why not?

Who wants to spend $500+ for mufflers when I could do something unique. I wanted flat black anyway, so it works. Love the sound.

Sorry man. Not my bag. I don't like all the plumbing to get em up there and it really doesn't follow the body lines. Not to mention I carry a passenger on occasion.

pegs can be installed,  i opted not to  since my passenger has her own bike.

as for lines not following,  i think you need to look again at your tractor pipes and re think that comment.

who needs all that engineering, tuning, and added performance. Uni-muffs are good enough for civics, then they are good enough for busas!!!

those look like the 2-stoke pipes on my YSR.

Cherry bombs make for a very inexpensive solution to the need for more sound and less restriction.
I've been running one on my CB750 since 1972.
Exhaust cans didn't exist then.
It is a common mod for Ducati Monster rat bikes.
There is no doubt a $500 Ti can looks cooler...but the sound and restriction is about the same.
I'm now liking the cut down cans some guys are using.

Not sure I'd like them on a Busa tho.....

Well the look will change when I nip off the tubing at the end of the muffler, and dish the exit in a bit. Will kinda disguise the cherry bomb muffler. Separate it from the universal style it currently has.

be sure to post finished product photos.  :thumb: i really liked the sound of stock mufflers with baffles knocked out, but they still looked stock. too bulky.

IMHO I would like to see high mounts with cut cans...they are WAY too long as they are.  Or at least cut down so that the tips are equal to the tail light.  That was the single reason why I did not go with them, but instead went the big bird route.

Last time I saw something like that, was back in the 80's.   Military guy from Ft. Riley had some mufflers like that on his 1000 Interceptor.   Sounded like a VW under water..

Well you guys are entitled to your opinion... but for my money I got a one off exhaust that sounds nice, and looks how I wanted it. I'll enjoy my other $500 that's left in my wallet.

I have to admit that it sounded better than I expected
but then again I didn't expect it to sound very good.
Not what I would have done but still curious to see the finished project.
Paid $200 bucks for these used D&D mufflers (and got my money back out of them)
till I could afford a full Hindle
