ZX9R TURBO VIDEO (UPDATE PICS)
« on: October 20, 2007, 07:17:37 PM »
I have ZX9R Turbo 00. When i started my project i haven't any experience with turbo. I read a lot information on turbo setup on this forum and the net. I run with my bike since 2 years. I started the first season with 5psi boost and I finished with 8 psi. Now i built new motor with J.E. forged turbo pistons 8:1 compression ratio. I made 3 little video.

First : 5psi boost

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2a76257d-2011-43e8-98fa-988e0139b402.htm

Second : 6,75 psi boost

Third : New motor J.E. piston 11 psi boost

I have thought alot about building a zx9 turbo as well. Do you have any information and/or photos of your setup that you care to share? Thanks. PS. I could not get the video to open.

That bike is AWESOME.....very well thought out and good quality craftsmanship....looks like the freakin space shuttle in the cockpit....  Hard to believe 5th gear wheelies with only 10lbs of boost....thats crazy.... My busa at stock height and swingarm would power up at the top of 3rd and I thought that was nutz....

Killer bike..

I built all my turbo kit. Except my intercooler and the little oil cooler under my turbo. I made a model of my intercooler and the oil cooler and i went to custom intercooler shop for made it. I built my engine with J.E. forge turbo piston and i tuned my kit too.

I finished a new short exhaust and muffler free flow 2 1/2. My old exhaust system had tow reduction diameter bent in the center section and my yoshimura muffler have 2 1/2 in and 2 out. That create restriction and i lost power. I don't run with the new short exhaust system, because i don't have finish all upgrade projects on my bike. Comming soon.

Thanks, ZX-ALAN. I read always your bike threads, you have a bad as bike too.  :thumb:

Some news on my bike. Last winter, i installed a bolt-on extension on second swingarm 6+. I bought ZX9 02-03 swingarm (he is reinforced), shock, adjustable lower link, complete rear break and complete rear wheel, 6+ rear ss hose brake and 530ZZZ chain. I polished and painted for match with my frame and fairing color.

Some pics for show the result :

This video it's the first test i made with extended swingarm 6+. The boost is set at 11 psi and +1 front. I have some traction probleme in first and secong gears untill 105 mph. After this test, i lowered the boost to 9-10 psi and i put a better tire. Now i can WOT first and second gears and the tire grip and push hard.
