I took a pic of the 14 when they took it off the dyno and she saw how poorly she performed.

We also got another confirmation run today on a different dyno and they too are reporting lower HP on the 2008 ZX-14 compared to the 08 Busa. The dyno reads a little happier than this one but the difference stock for stock was still about 8-9hp. About the same as we saw

Hemi14Rfearsomekwak says that is not possible?   :bah:

What a slug - wonder if the 3rd cat has the 08 14 bottled up ? This isn't close to te numbers Ricky got.

2 different dyno's giving similiar results.  I would like to see the 14 piped & remapped.

I rode the 08 Busa with Alienhead - I love it - it was flying. Revs up so quick and pulss hard all the way up to redline.

Something has the 14 bottled up for sure. You can see the way the slope of the curve falls off up top. Either air flow, exhaust are the most likely culprits, Hopefully its not cams or head as they will be tougher to fix. But it looks to me as if the 14 is going to wake up with an exhaust and or airbox mod or filter. Maybe the secondary butterflies missing will help too.

airbox mod...lol.... the airbox mods itself at about 100 mph..... have you rode the 14? does it feel like it's sick....have you rode the two bikes side by side or anything like that...

Agreed.  The slope is typical Kawi 7 - 8 (performance rush starting on top) but turns anemic at 8 plus.  Besides the culprits you mention it could be electrical.  Electrical neutering was Expensive to (HALF) sort on my Gen II FZ1.  (My gut says) I doubt it's the head or cams - the slope changes too dramatically.  MY guess is airflow resistance (in /out or both) or electrical - but I don't make a living tuning bikes.  ?

....This is from Rob Muzzy  about the 08 zx14 over rich problem..

Rob Muzzy

We have just finished exhaust pipe testing on the 08. First let me say that for some reason the stock bike is very rich from the factory. The bike we tested was down about 2 HP over the 06 and 07 bikes. We then installed a Power Commander and mapped. The results netted a 7 HP gain over the previous years. We then began pipe testing, the MUZZY M10 produced 189HP, and the new M14 produced 194HP. We then removed the Flies and put VP M11 in the fuel tank. Results where a very impressive 200.6 HP. The bike had 485 miles on the odometer. We have not tested the 08 Busa and can not make any comparisons.

Good info on the Muzzy bike. At least they are also seeing the rich mapping just like we did.

Interesting info, although I think all it tells us for sure is that Brock is going to make a lot of money on ZX-14 exhausts and PowerCommanders.

That's a little harsh GND, IMO Muzzy's pipes are not bad for the money if you don't care about the best time on the track. they usally don't sound bad either

reality?..... thats not reality...
here's some reality from" brock" for you......

Oh yes--my personal opinion: The new Metallic Midnight Sapphire Blue is one of the sweetest colors I have EVER seen on a production motorcycle. I also believe that the 2008 ZX-14 MIGHT be stronger on the dyno after bolt-on mods than the 2008 Busa? I will know as soon as our testing is complete. One thing is for sure…if you like fast bikes; you can choose your favorite model without being worried that your smart-ass buddy will be lipping you! When it comes down to it, both you and your buddy had better be on your game because playing catch-up after a mistake is NO LONGER an option.

The "reality" of it all is that the Busa no matter what is mechanically a better bike, PERIOD. You can argue, quote and piss and moan all you want, Kawi is a copy and nothing more then a copy of a Busa.
Time weeds out the copies, things fall apart, welds break, owners become disenchanted, resale values plummet.  :grn:

great info, will be fun to see how things turn out if you also pipe them etc. Nice to see comparrisons done by bike owners and not someone looking to profit from the info, I know both parties and both are honest and the comparrison was fair, since the dyno operator/tuner owns the 14 you can be sure it was tuned to the best of his ability. Both bikes were bought where I work so neither was a ringer, the Busa was the first 08 we got in and the 14 was the first 08 14 we got in also.

Yosh is FAR better for an almost identical price.  They spend as little time on research as possible and are unimaginative.  It may be harsh but it's the truth...

Well in this area if I could only choose between the Muzzy and a yosh it would never be the Yosh, Every squid that comes in the shop and buys a bike wants a yosh it has to be the biggest squid exhaust out there.
