I would like to see a follow up story from that really good article at the wind tunnel using a 08 Busa to see the difference between genI and genII  :thumb: Curious about new front fender shaping :thumb:

Quote from Suzuki News magazine "Aerodynamics are smoother than ever thanks to a new fairing and tail section, as well as a raised windscreen and lowered fuel tank to allow the rider to tuck in farther"

I hear the "FA" of the 08 is bigger than gen 1.

Anyone know if you can use Gen 2 plastic on Gen 1s??

I would believe that....I am not sure the 08 has a lower cd. The mags passed on a tunnel test comparing the two...so far.

Doesn't look as slippery to me.
It starts with the front fender.

First of all thanks for all of you reading and remembering the wind tunnel story as I am the author. I enjoyed that story a lot and wanted to repeat it in 2008 as Dave-O pointed out. The mags however did not want to spend the $$ and it is a LOT to pull off a story like this. I "think" that perhaps Suzuki shared some data confidentially with some of the editors already and they knew that the difference was not worth spending thousands of $$ to test. If you look in one of the issues of Motorcyclist there was a photo of an editor in a tunnel with a busa so I think they know already and it may not be enough to matter. Everything I have read and based on my small amount of experience I think the 08 will be slightly better with a rider on board. But that is a guess.

I know one of the earliest articles that I saw had what looked like an airbrushed photo of the '08 with the smoke lines streaming over the bodywork.  I've wondered since then if that reflects what is really happening.  My thoughts were that knowing how the air flows over various parts, I might be able to make incremental improvements to my tuck based on that.

Good original story Rotts.

Yes!  The one on top is the one I was thinking of.  Thanks Tom.  You're on the ball.
