second fuel line
« on: July 18, 2007, 04:49:51 AM »
what is a good set up for installing a second fuel line .  I have tried two different bolt in bungs and both ended up leaking.  I am out of ideas and have been messing around with this for weeks.  I have had the whole motor built to handle large nitrous shots but have never been able to use it let because of small gremlins like this.

thanks

I have looked at them.  do you remember what size hole you used.  I already have a 9/16" from previous attempts

Where did you drill the hole?

Did you empty the tank and rinse with water before drilling?

I'm concerned about drilling a hole into my tank with gas or gas fumes still inside of it.

I drilled the hole on throttle side of tank (the right side if your sitting on bike) on the flat portion next to fuel pump had to cut a little insulation to make room for tank bung, you have to remove fuel pump to put half of tank bung inside fuel tank and the other half screws on to it from outside of tank a little hard to get bung inside of tank just takes a little time, dont worry about fumes because tank will be emty anyway drilled mine with no problems

Thanks.

I already have the Pingel bung, I just haven't mounted it yet.

I also have a dry kit on the bike, but the wet kit is what I'd like to experiment with

i did the same thing with the bong from shnitz works great for me also i would not put water in tank it is hard to get it all out and tank will start to slowly rust i have seen this happen with 2 of MacIntosh's shaved tanks although it could be something else causing the problem but 2 out of 2 is not good

I have ordered the bung and a petcock from Pingel.  The hole is drilled on the right side of the tank the same as QWICKDRAW.  I never used water and the tank was easy to clean out afterwards.  I hope this works and I will post the results .

thanks everyone for you imput

I used a pingel weld in bung and petcock.  I had a rad shop weld this in for me and it worked perfect

And didn't you also sell me this AWSOME 2000 fuel tank adapter plate that accepts 3/8 npt?
You should make a push to let people know if you still make them I get a lot of people asking me about it
