No, you are not imagining it. I didn't post up about it until now, because I don't feel like getting flamed by everyone and arguing. Not much time for the internet lately.
It has been MY, and I repeat MY experience, that the conditions on Sunday were some of the best I have seen at Maxton, at least for me and my bike, the way I am set up. A 10 mph+ STEADY HEADWIND is when my bike runs best. I went over 240 three times in one day with A 20=(?) MPH headwind.
Second best conditions are usually the 3/4 headwind/crosswind frome left to right that is the norm 90% of the time.
Third best are when it gusts from left to right.
The worst conditions for ME were the day we had the 10 mph tailwind. My bike lost all steering input at 225 all 4 (?) runs I attempted. I would try tokeep it between the cones and missed them by an inch once. I would chop the throttle, then get mad, and then crank it open again, but as you know, the boost is gone, run over , maybe a lousy 225 max. The tower was going nuts watching me and was glad I bailed making any more runs. Those were the scariest runs I have ever made at maxton and were 20+ mph slower than I have been there before. My runs in the 240's & high 230's were only scary when it came time to slow down.
Again, I am not telling anyone they are WRONG. Everyones bike is set up different. And maybe 95% of the bikes there will run better with a tailwind. But for those of you out there who think it's crazy that there bike felt stable at ultra high speeds with a headwind, it's not that crazy.
My feeling is that there is more downforce and the bike stays planted in the front. It doesn't really make sense though, because how could a 10 mph tailwind take away from the 230 mph of wind you are having push down on that front end?
I don't claim to be smart enough to figure it out, but I know what has ahppened in the past for me and my bike from first hand experiences.
JMHO
Oh yeah, that plug doesn't look melted? And its the only one? Were you mapped and tuned at the boost level you were running at? Kinda funny only one plug fried. When I melted my motor, ALL the plugs were messed up. Then again, my screw-ups tend to always be large in scale!
