.043 jet = what shot
« on: April 26, 2008, 05:05:54 PM »
I have had my bike on the dyno to verify I am running a safe air/fuel with all the new parts.  efir-13, fast fi, and .036 jet

All that netted me 200 RWHP so I took a carburetor jet drill bit and honed the jet out to a .038.  Netted me some more with air/fuel still at 10.0:1.  So after getting up to a .043 jetting and making 220 RWHP / 140 RWTQ blazing an ultra soft shinko I decided that was enough power to make me happy.  Air/fuel still 10.0:1 until the upper RPMs where it curled up to 11.0:1.  I am just curious to what a .043 jet is even equivelant to.  With some better clutch springs I will maybe increase the jetting to a .045.  But for now it runs pretty darn strong.  All the dyno pulls were at 950 psi bottle pressure.  I have since turned it down using a bottle warmer and running at 900 psi.  Havent lost any races with this setup so I have not been urged to increase anything.

Thanks!

on your bike, 20 more than an .036.

How much HP does your bike make on motor?

If you made 200 with a 36, you are probably only making about 155 on motor.

A 42 jet is usually good for about 65 HP. If you use a spray bar, you usually get another 5 HP or so.

Oh I know this...  I am just trying to see what a .043 jet was equivelant to since a .028=30 hp & .036=60 hp.  My bike makes 165 RWHP so I understand it is only a 55 hp gain for me.  This .043 jet size is just all curiousity to me on what hp it is if I wasnt drenching the engine with fuel and pulling so much timing.

Rough numbers:
28  30HP
30  34HP
32  38HP
34  40HP
36  45HP
38  50HP
40  55HP
42  65HP

Of you drill them, you will usually get slightly less as the orifice is sharper adn not a radius on the lead in. A spray bar will allow the nitrous to atomize a little better and make slightly more HP.

Thanks.  That makes sense.  I have considered the spray bar, just haven't convinced myself yet since the bike is running so well.

So 5 passes with a .042 jet and you used 2lbs 9.1oz's of nitrous
