Where has the power gone ?
« on: January 26, 2009, 09:31:20 AM »
Hey All,
Haven't had my bike long but sometimes you spank it up to bout 8k rpm & it tries to tear my shoulders outta there sockets, then other times u hit it and it just feels really sluggy and doesn't wanna charge on. Its almost like its in C mode, the manual says A mode is default & I never f*ck wif it sooo ???

Was just wondering if anyone had any clues/suggestions

Need a little more info... but just because it is the default does not mean you are in A mode - especially if you hit the button by mistake.

Its pretty hard to hit it by mistake, to get it out of A mode you have to hold the button for a few seconds. Only then will a short push go from A to B to C.

I have in A all the time, but I dont reset it everytime b4 I go out, but I left in A last time I used it so I assure it stays there. I was just using the mode selector as an example to descibe of how the power feels when its running sluggy (feels like the edge has been taken of it). From one day to the next it changes without touching the Mode selector.

maybe a sensor is going out, If its intermediate i doubt it would be the mapping.  I work on diesels not motorcycles, so I'm sure someone else on here is more qualified to answer your question.  But if it was mine, I'd check for any codes first, and if there aren't any wait till it does it, and then check right away.

by placing a jumper wire in the diagnostics plug in the diagnostic plug it will show you the codes in the display, but I forget which wires they are, its been so long since I've done it.  found that out from the bazzaz.

maybe check to make sure that your butterfly valves are still in sync with eachother. much other then that I think if it is a sensor problem of some kind the diagnostic codes should tell you.

check your clutch. only time mine dont pull like a freight train is when the clutch pack is under 1.9anything   i have to keep it at 2.00 or it slips on the top end.

The diagnostics sounds a bit above my knowledge/ability, but I plan on getting an R-77 fitted & PC & a dyno run soon so if its the mapping my local guy at the speed shop should be able to sort it , i hope !

It doesn't feel like a slippery clutch the revs aren't jumping up, out of the ordinary !

Thanx for your suggestions guyz !!

Try shifting down to second, instead of 6th, when you hit it above 8K
