Any real world problems with the recall
« on: July 30, 2008, 02:27:20 PM »
Has anyone experienced a shut down because of the wiring/switch recall?

My dealer said not to worry about it. I said, if I go to sell my 08 someone will ask if the recall(s) have been performed.

I'm taking it in next Tuesday.

But the question was, has anyone had a problem prior to the fix?

it probably wouldnt cause any problems until after a few thousand miles when the wires start rubbing and wearing...Most people have it fixed by then...

I took mine in at just over 1000 miles. No problems before or after. They said there were only very few 08 busas they might have a problem, but whatever I had it taken care of just in case. They wouldn't issue a recall for no reason.

Was your bike in the problem VIN area?

I got the recall, but to be honest I haven't called yet to see if mines affected.  I've been busy, and when I have time I wanna ride  :vl:  On a more serious note, there is only one dealership within about 150 miles and I dont let them touch my shit! So if mine needs the recall work done, its gonna be a road trip.

I will update on whether mine is in the affected VIN area.

i had a problem with my bike before the recall. was riding bike, stopped and shut bike off.ten minutes later went to start bike and no power to anything.played with key on and off and checked wiring from ignition switch to under gas tank and couldn't find anything wrong. wasgoing to take out tools to lift gastank and check wiring and decided to turn key on and off again, and all of a sudden got power again and bike started and i went home and park it.called dealer and brought bike in for recall. they changed the ignition switch which comes with new wiring. picked bike up and rode home and all was well. rode bike next day about one mile and bike went dead on me going down the road, then power comes back on gauges make sweep with needles and we go 50feet and does it all over again and we're on our way, never has done it again.have putover 1,000 miles on since and all is well.
