manual cam chain tensioner

is a manual cam chain tensioner better than the stock one? i need to replace my tensioner and was wondering which direction i should go. any help would be great

Is it important that your cams stay in time when the motor is running?  That is the reason that the top engine builders use them.

I had a stock one fail and the cam jumped a tooth
have a manual one now
