engine running poorly after washing bike
« on: September 28, 2008, 02:22:28 PM »
Please help!!!!  I wash my busa on the averge bout  once a week. Bout 6 months ago, I washed my bike, and rode it, and the enigne was lacking power, kinda like making a sputtering sound. I let it sit overnite, and rode it again, and it ran just fine.  I juz washed it again yesterday, and it did the same thing. What could be going wrong here??? Any suggestions??

I got no clue bud.
Sputtering and no power could be from no fuel pressure or bad gas?
But i don't know how washing it could trigger those effects...

Dont those 99's have a fuel filter that causes problems?

just my 2 cents but I would think spark, when was thelast time you checked the wires and coils? prop up the fuel tank and spray the water on the coils and wires then let it sit for 5 minutes and start it if it does the same thing you got it.... what you are discribing sounds like what happened to me with my dodge stratus

Pull your tank up and pull the coils from the plugs, inspect for any cracks, burn spots if nothing found smear some delectric grease in where the coils go on the plugs and a little around the outside where they slip down thru the head also put a dap of the dilectric grease on the wire connection that snaps on the coil stick, one other thing as long as the tanks up and coils off I would pull plugs and look at them, maybe replace if they had ben there a while
The older you get do you notice you start chickening out way before the bike does

happens to my 99 all the time, kick stand switch is getting wet doesnt like its  B-A-T-H
its not any thing under your tank, that stuff doesnt get wet
wrap a plastic sandwitch bag around your stand switch next time you wash it and i bet you it will be fine
alcohol is the cause and solution to all my problem,s

it burn,s when i pee

tattoos and harley,s  both image enhancers
