Fred:  You , as usual, have a good point.

It would seem that if a name and speed
are to be included in “a list,” the minimum
required information would be as you suggest.

However, I think that most of the “top speed lists”
on this website, with the exception of Dean’s
excellent  naked listing, is basically “self serve.”

That is:

Somebody envisions a list and starts that list.

The original poster (OP) loses interest after a while,
and instead or “searching out” people to add to the list,
the OP lets people “ sign up” for the list by just
“mailing in” a suggestion, either on their
own behalf, or for a friend.

In “self serve,” there is little effort made to “reach out” to the
various LSR organizations to search their published
results to find people to add to the list – even if the
racers to be included are unaware of the
list to which they could be added.

The end result is a “list” that is both
non-inclusive and incomplete.

The result is a list that is basically “self serve.”

If you want yourself or somebody else on the list,
you just “post.”  The “supervisor” of the post does
little or no research of confirmation of the
correctness or completeness of the list.

A few days ago, while searching for information
to actively include in my own, personal lists, I
visited the sites for the English results.  I also
reviewed what the Mojave, Texas and Loring
sites had listed at “certified speeds.”  I found a
number of people that WERE NOT included
in this site’s 1.0 mile postings.

Is it somehow MY responsibility, once I
have identified the racers, and their speeds
to supply ALL the information for inclusion ?

I don’t keep THAT list, so not my job

I then posted all these names and certified speeds
to the 1.0 mile list, but see they
have not all been included.

Should these brave racers, who risk
a lot by going over 200 mph,
be included in the listings, and be forever
remembered for their accomplishments ?

I think yes !

Should these racers be the primary movers in
establishing their position ON these lists ?

I suggest not.

They did the “heavy lifting;” so why is
they have to “find the list ?”

What if they have passed away,
and cannot speak for themselves ?

Dean’s NAKED list is the best on this Site,
after at least three (3) half-baked attempts by others.
Dean searches 60 years of LSRS history to
find and recover those important names and speeds,
determines their accuracy, and posts the results.

As a good scholar, Dean will pursue the integrity of “the List”
in the coming years, and keep it up to date.

It will be a resource for all students of LSR history,
and a credit to this site.  It will be a continuing
satisfaction to Dean that he is “giving back”
to those that have helped him in the past,
and will appreciate his good work in the future.

We will all be the better for it.

My pleasure !

More boost (& more risk) for 220 mph,
and that would be pretty stout !

If you are near, LORING would be a great place
for you to "run the table." in the 750cc blown classes.

When you run out of stuff to do in the 750 class,
sleeve the engine down to 650cc.

You will make less power, but the engine will last longer.

In relation to the engine size,
you will have a big turbo,
ig valves, and big plumbing.

Much cheaper than building a 1,000cc........

Hi Ryan,

Can you add my new speed to the list please.

I managed quite a few runs over 240 mph with a best of 249.738 at the recent
Elvington UK British national speed weekend 16th 17th May.
A bit hairy with the gusting winds and a standard swingarm!

Congrats again!
