maybe I missed something, but does anyone have or had a gen 1 with yosh cam and stock intake on exhaust side with base gasket removed with aftermarket exhaust,pc usb, large air box mod ect.. that had it on a dyno that gave correct hp reading?????????

Since the beginning of this post i think it's IMPOSSIBLE to achieve 188-190hp from just putting cams (any kind-any lift) in a completely stock engine (I MEAN BY NOT REMOVING THE HEAD GASKET OR MILLING OR....) and especially with PUMP GAS because this post (the guy who start it) specify (Is it possible to get 188-190hp by not removing the head gasket and pump gas????......)

I maintain my position and as long as somebody show me a dyno chart ''SAE'' that show more than 188hp by just putting cams in a stock head gen 1 busa ........I SAY NO
[/quote

since no one has posted any dyno chart I take your word for it.Thanks

I've always noticed big hp numbers here on .org and wondered what I'm doing wrong?

My last 1363 with intake on exhaust, small web on intake, ported head, 105-106 only made 179 hp, 106 tq on pump gas. But I beat other stock bore Busas claiming more Hp than mine?

The guy that dynoed mine said his dyno was honest.

When I bought the bike used, it came with dyno sheets: 153 stock and 163 with just a pipe.
I added a p/c and it showed 150 on the other guys dyno. With the p/c un- hooked it went 149 hp

It seems there's a lot of variation with dynos.

My poor boy special makes 185-190hp. It consists of removing base gasket, bigger intake cam. moving the stock intake to the exhaust side with race valve springs and degreeing the cams. That was on U4. It's been a few years since anyone has wanted to build one of these. And a ported head got yea 10 more ponys. The highest stock motored gen 1 busa I have ever seen was 174hp

For sure SPAZ i agree ........there are way better ''set up'' of cam than those Yosh :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

especially with ''small'' modifications to the engine

It's possible to install and dial camshaft in the frame but ask any mechanic ......it's tight especially for the exhaust cam....the dial  indicator is very close or hitting the frame.   I prefer to do the dial job on my working table..... :D

Sorry i don't have picture of doing this job......

Lucky its not a video of doing the exhaust cam,you would have to bleep it from all the swearing.Dialling the exhaust cam in whilst in the frame is a prick of a job and it doesn,t seem to get easier,no matter how many times you do it.Dads bike has got brock drop in pistons, ported head, yosh cams, factory pro stacks, small airbox mod and ended up with 185hp/107ft/lb SAE  on pump.probably would have cracked 190 with all shorts. Its probably got a little less mid and top end than an intake on the exhaust but it pulls good from 3000 which suits the heavy rider and the factory pro stacks make max power around 9800.

Not sure why you guys are having problems degreeing cams with the motor in the chassis. Its very easy and WAY faster than pulling the motor. You just need the right tools. I welded a spoke from a motorcross wheel onto an addaptor for the dial indicator and I bolt the fixture down to the hole for the airbox bolt. I had to turn the spoke down a little on the last inch and bend it just a touch so it would clear the cam lobe. Set-up takes less than 3 minutes after the valve cover is off.

I take some photos in a few days, my bike is all together but I have a customers busa in my shop now and the engine is out of the bike and on a stand. It will be going back in early next week, I'll have pictures then....

Big THANKS on that, really concidering dropping in that intake on exhaust side. If I can make it easy without dropping engine that would be SWEET!
