Just take it easy and use your older wiser smarts. Don't ride over your head, avoid target fixation. Above all, remember the number one rule. It does not matter how far ahead another rider is, only how fast you can safely complete each run.

Have fun! Take pics! Be safe!
Closed course. Professional rider. Do not attempt.

Still privately owned and operated by Hayabusa owner enthusiasts. 2002, small  a/a kit, CF body

You can get into trouble on a 150 scooter,
The older you get do you notice you start chickening out way before the bike does

Every year we have dudes old or young, that think they can ride twistys, never been on the Dragon ever, and think they are going to bust ass, they end up busting ass alright...... there own, I tell newbes to that road anyhow, go up take it EASY have fun, don't make believe your a road racer, and for the most part you will come out with your ass intact, ride or act like someone your not and you will have no ass left.......for years I would run that 2 or 3 times a month, for the last few years maybe one time...end of march first of april, then maybe if the other old farts want to go, but thats about it, ...its just not that big a deal anymore

A few years back when I rode the dragon for the first time. My goal was to maintain the speed limit and stay in my lane. It was a blast. It was 97 degrees and everyone I was with tookl there leathers off. I kept mine on, that was like going to the mountains without using your seat belt. :bah:

Tail of the Dragon is an awesome riding experience.  Made the trip in 2014, for me was probably once in a lifetime opportunity as its almost 5000 miles round trip from home.  There are also many other great scenic routes in the area for great riding experiences.

Eddie, staying at the speed limit, 30 or 35 in the curves is more than a accomplishment, staying in your lane at the speed limit, is near impossible, except for maybe a seasoned pro, and that's well seasoned, still on the way out, running 30 - 35 mph in those hairpins is tough, if your on a motard maybe....... but a Busa, highly doubtful

Stepping off of the concrete sidewalk in front of our room in a part of the slanted parking lot that had a 14" drop insted of a normal 5" step.  I did not see the drop in time to prevent my left heel from takin' the hit.   Still rode, just could not walk much.   :hys: :sh:

Sooooo, that's where you have been. I have been trying to call you. Hope you had fun! Call me when you get a chance.

Will do, we had a ball.  My kid is fast but there were at least two that I saw that were faster.   I got to sit with David, the owner of US 129 photos for 45 minutes and get an education.  He got me going by.  But there was this pair of riders, one girl and one guy, that were incredibly fast.  I could hardly believe my eyes the way they were clicking off the three turns we could see from that vantage point.

She has been professionally trained and has many a track day under her belt.  Do not underestimate your opponent in this kind of riding due to sex.  If she was 100%, my son is 75%.  And he is fast, IMO.  And she did it without draggin' her knee.  My kinda woman (30years ago).

That road is awesome, if you're good, if you are not, it is more than a challenge, it is a potential death trap.  I rode it twice and that was enuf.  Also rode the Chirihalla (sp) skyway up to the snowline and had a snowball fight with my son.  Cold as your fridge at 4500 feet.  Snow everywhere up high, but 67-70 down in our parking lot.  We built a huge bonfire that we started with gas soaked (from the bikes) rags, kindling, and some pine and birch and oak.  It was a true fun time.

I learned one important lesson.................."A good man has got to know his limitations".

My Busa will never see that road...............apples and oranges.

It don't matter if your Busa's got 200HP or 400HP you cant use it, but if its tuned to have good street manners you cab still run the Dragon ok, it will tucker you out did me 10 years ago.............. now I almost need to take a nap halfway through.  I remember 1 year we went to the store and it wasn't hot I got to say maybe 78 - 80 degrees...........got to the top of Cherohala and it was like 42, still ha snow in shaded spots, I meen dam WTF is that, we froze our ass's off.........dam heater on the Harley wasn't working worth a crap , got down to Telleco it was 81 fucking degrees, from then on whenever we planed to do Cherohala we went in the middle of the summer, and it was still a bit cool but bareable,

I do not envision my bike having "good street manners" with a 5" over arm, lowered an inch and weighing in at about 560 lbs, even with the BSTs and Brembo Brakes, plus it will be geared for 19/43 which means I would never get out of first...........except maybe twice.  Wrong bike for that road, IMO.

That road was made for a top-of-the-line Aprilla or Ducati, or a good Motard..............not a Hayabusa.    Just my take after riding it for two days straight.

30-35 mph is practically impossible in some of the corners...not many.
