normal

I thought so...The dealer I bought it from said its normal and has nothing to do with the engine..  The bike is all stock, and the noise only happens when I havent rode it in a week or 2,and only last for a few seconds...  thanks for the reply :thumb:

Mine ticks for a little bit when its cold too.  I put on a Yosh exhaust and thought maybe it was a slight exhaust leak, but couldn't find anything.  I was thinking it was normal too.

Mine rattles like a son of a bitch until it gets about 30 seconds of heat to it. If I keep the clutch lever pulled in at start up through the 30 second mark there is no rattle.

Sounds like it's the back torque limiter (2-piece) rattling.  I have always swapped mine out for the 1-piece clutch mod *BROCKS 1-PIECE MOD* and have never had this problem or heard this noise....

Just  So you know...  I'm a Tech at a local Suzuki Shop here is Houston.

I've had THREE out of the 30 or so we've sold with the same issue.

The clutch bolt bosses that hold spring pressure on the clutch have started backing out of the hub itself.   This allows the heads of the bolts to come in
contact with the clutch cover itself!  There are three post on the inside of the clutch cover for this reason.  They attempt limiting the extreme travel of the
bolts in these circumstances.

If your a tech pull the cover and check them it will be obvious if there loose.  If not take it in and get it check out.  Suzuki will pay for the repair.

Suzuki has not release any T.S.B. as of yet.

In this case does the noise go away when it warms up?
Seems if it were a loose bolt it would tick all the time.

NO.... if it's affected the bolts have to be fixed in order to correct the issue.

Dont get me wrong a motor is not a slient machine there are and will be different noises.  This was just a possiblity given the short history of the '08.
