« on: January 24, 2009, 11:05:08 AM »
This is one of my little projects that keeps me sane
Taking my time on this.... its amazing what a bit of love and tlc can do?
Had to bring it out and turn it round ready to paint the other side of the engine next week.
Its gonna be a runner soon !

A bit of fun and pleasure doing this...  :thumb: :D :D

Next job is fitting this.....

Its a full stainless system (sorry about the photo quality) with removable sound baffle.
I believe its the same end can fitment as the Bandit 1200 exhaust so I`m going to get a better end can  :thumb:

I`ve got to buy a model specific conical air filter and jet kit, contacted a company in the US, but as yet they havent answered my Email regards shipping to UK.

Yup HOS. Thats often a problem. There are a lot of US companys who dont want to ship parts to Europe.
I think its because there is more work to do to fill out the papers and they dont want to do that.
Mostly they dont answer your Emails  :?  I think to say: "NO" should not be a problem.

Thats one of the reasons why I like this Board. No problems at all  :D

I agree Mike, theres no shame in saying "we do`nt ship to the EU" but then again if its a prodcut we can`t get over here, I for one
wouldnt mind paying extra for packaging, insurance etc  :thumb:

I've never understood the problem of shipping internationaly. If you want to sell a product just charge the appropriate price on international shipping orders to cover your extra costs. I always tell my customers "I'll go anywhere you need me so long as you pay the travel time" then it's up to them to decide if it's worth it or not

I finally finished painting the engine today  :thumb:  :D
Took a while, but by removing as much as I could and masking up small areas at a time, with matt black VHT paint its easy to overlap paint
without obvious tell tale signs.

Took it out into the sunshine to give it an airing this afternoon......... the ZR1100 is becoming very rare now.

Got to get the K&N cone filter and jet kit next  8)

Appreciate your interest and comments  :thumb: :D

Been painting the new oil cooler today. Had it rebuilt by a local outfit I know who res-use the original brackets and union fittings.
and just slot in some much higher spec cooling element. The stock oil coolers on this bike or even on Busas are pretty poor efficiency.

Next week I`m going to be getting some fabrication prices for the new exhaust clamps I designed on AutoCAD.

Its all good fun   :D

Done a temporary fit of the new exhaust to see how it works and fitted the rebuilt oil cooler.
Not overly pleased with the line of the new pipes, but its different.

I might get the line of the tail pipe and end can raised at a later stage, but just want to have it on the road soon  :D

My memory might be a little fuzzy but I'm pretty sure they didn't look that good when brand new. From what I can see on the pictures the attention to detail is amazing and the detailing looks spot on.
