hahaa any bike over 100k suzuki should buy it back
seriously those are some crazy numbers, 200km

They would have my last 5 bikes then!

Suzuki hates people like me and they have said so. They want someone who is going to scrap the bikes at 20K and buy new ones. We find all the holes in the bikes and usually let people know about them.

I just looked back on this thread and I posted that I had 38K in 2009. Now I have over 68000 miles.
Sometimes I scare myself.

Just curious, for the  folks who have 50,000 and more miles. Is your bike the primary way of getting around, or is that all joy riding? Not saying you don't have another way to get around. Just choose the bike.

BTW I'm jealous  :D

I'm starting the season with 33,609 on the clock. My goal is at least 5k for the summer, 8k will be a good season.

Uh, no actually.  I bought the bike in December 2010, a silver gray 09...........it was a new/left over in a shop in Charlottesville and they were kind enough to deliver it to my front door in an enclosed trailer for a few extra bucks.  Nice folks.  They even sent me the new rectifier to replace the recalled one.  Paid 10,400 for the bike.  I thought that was a fair deal.  I do not ride as much as I used to............most of you guys put more miles on your stuff in two months than I do in a year.  I guess, in my case, it is a combination of age and some physical limitations with my back.  I had surgery last November...........degenerative disc thing.  It is what it is.

Just busted 20K miles 5-25-2011 as I returned home from carving corners on the Dragon with some friends. Went to bike week in Myrtle Beach after that. So it's looking like 21K miles soon  :hys:

'08, bought in June of '08. Boy do I need to ride more.  :hys:

Joy, not there yet, but even when I ride the bike to run errands it's a joy brother.

I bought my son a naked '07 Suzuki SV650 for Christmas and he attends UTC in Chattanooga full time.  He is a junior.  He rides the Dragon and tells me that it is the most incredible road for a bike that you can imagine.  He even sent me some pics that were taken of him while riding out there.  Apparently they have photographers that are all over that road......they post as Killboy.com.    Lots of knee-draggin' goes on there............I just bought him a new rear tire........Michelin Pilot 2.  He likes it.  Apparently The Dragon Rules.   :thumb:

You got that right bud, (the Dragon rules) I make it up there at least once a month, sometimes more depends on who wants to go, its only about 30 -45 mins from work, and about a hour from home, never had no trouble but law or no law, be carefull you don't want any pieces left on the tree of shame, and I also found out, painfuly, that old farts do not heal as well as they used to

Well, Rocketgeezer, all I can say is that The Dragon sounds like the most challenging public road in this corner of the country.  And yes, Dylan did tell me about the "Tree Of Shame".  I just continually pray that his sense of survival will overcome his desire to "push the envelope".  I raised him on dirters for 7 years before he ever got his permit.   :tu:

All I want to do is let you know when you do run that road, DO NOT assume anything some of those switchbacks will wreak you in a heartbeat, and you don't have to be going that fast, I have seen dudes crash at 30 MPH, and when you crash you crash bad, if you bahave yourself and respect the road you can have fun, 3 people so far this year have died, all from out of the area, never been on the road before, I realized some time ago that the first few times your really just learning the road and defiantly should not be pushing it, I would say after at least 4 or 5 runs you will start to honestly enjoy the ride, until then, if you say that you didn't scare yourself, your ether foolish brave or lieing.........when you do get up there be careful and have fun.........and before you head this way, get in touch.........Dave

:tu: Thanks, pal.  My son is out there riding it today. (Chattanooga is not that far from The Dragon.) He will be an "expert" before I ever get the chance to turn a wheel on that road.   That little 650 of his will likely run rings around my Busa.  His bike only weighs 400 lbs.

Speaking of miles................hiow long should the stocker chain last?  Assuming no burnouts or power shifts and regular lubrication.  On my 01, I had to immediately replace the chain with a DID because it began to stretch.  This new GEN II chain seems to be of better quality.

I guess it would depend on how hard you ride. Accelerating and engine braking. Maybe weight too. Maybe 10 - 15 thousand miles. Let's see who agrees.

BTW, I'm at 35,800 now

Thats some good miles Eddie, and you are 100% correct. your chain life is directly linked to how the bike is ridden, 10 to 15K i would be about average, but one old dude that used to come to our local bike night, had 40+K on a 02 Busa with original chain :?
