« on: February 11, 2009, 09:23:10 AM »
I always ran 4qts.of oil at change with filter ,in my 2000 turbo and 2005 Busas.I have a 09 Busa now and road it yesterday for 88 mi. so I changed the oil and used 4 qts. I never had oil in air box in other Busas so will this be a problem in 09 bike???  Thanks

Just trying to clarify what you are asking? Are you saying you have oil in your airbox? Or are you asking if the quantity will be the same as GenI Hayabusa's?

Cookie, long time no see  :D

Did you change turn signal fluid first or just oil and filter?

Okay,,, here's what you do after you have placed your oil filter on. Hopefully you have wrapped your header pipes with aluminum foil so you don't get oil all over them when you removed it! New filter, hand tighten, extra quarter turn with wrench. Fill through a funnel, pour in three quarts. Cap. Start and run for two or three minutes,, or enough to circulate and fill your oil filter. If you slightly primed your filter, the run to circulate will be less. Turn the key off. Let the bike and oil sit for a minute. With the bike on its own side stand (both wheels on the ground), assume a seated position on the right side so to view the clutch cover 'site window'. From that seated position (or squat - depending on your dexterity) grab the right handle bar and pull the bike toward you until you feel it is level. View the 'site window' and then gauge how much more you should fill until you have reached the full line. Cap off and you are set. Re-check after a good ride.

3100 ml = 3.27573345 US quarts

I know that maybe more than you asked for,, I hope it helps a bit, Harold.  8)

Thanks for your reply and welcome back Cookie.I've changed oil in the two Hayabusas I owned probably between 50 and 75 times,so I have that part down pat.Just wanted to know if anyone with a 08-09 had trouble with oil in air box with 4qts. Harold.

I would think that if you are overfilling your crankcase wants to try and disperse in any way it can so it's going to throw it wherever it can. Windage trays are designed to keep excess oil 'off' of the crankshaft. Try not to overfill, I think, and that problem should go away.  Thanks for the WB.
