Well said, Guy.
I remember being so hyped up setting records one day in the heat, and I had suspicions my tire was chunking, but was too busy worrying about how many runs I would lose if I swapped it out.
In impound, you were suspicious and wanted to check my tire, and asked me to roll the bike forward so you could inspect it.
So I rolled it like 6 inches forward, so you couldn't see the whole tire, scared you would tell me I couldn't race anymore with that tire. (LOL!)
You looked at me with a look on your face that said "Nice try, Walt" (LOL!)
Then said to me "Keep rolling until I tell you to stop".
Luckily I only had some spinning and one little chunk out and could keep racing.
In hindsight, I am glad you cared more about me than I cared about myself that day in an effort to keep me safe, and I appreciate that.
Sometimes we get tunnel vision and disregard our own safety because we get too "caught up in the moment", well, at least I know I do.
Be safe, go fast, and have fun!
Walt
