I got a little warm during a run and popped a piston. Nothing through the block or anything, but it will still have to come apart. I had a blast and I got a 200+ t-shirt! Woohoo! lol

As much as I love to see these high speeds, remember folks, be safe out there.  Watch your rear tires, check everything twice and then check them again.  Everyone needs to watch out for everyone.  If you notice something on a competitors bike that just doesn't look right or that rider exhibits any kind of look that would make you ask if he/she is OK to ride, then ask it or show it to a tech official.  It's all our jobs to make sure we are good to go.

Please let's not lose anyone again.

Well said, Guy.

I remember being so hyped up setting records one day in the heat, and I had suspicions my tire was chunking, but was too busy worrying about how many runs I would lose if I swapped it out.

In impound, you were suspicious and wanted to check my tire, and asked me to roll the bike forward so you could inspect it.

So I rolled it like 6 inches forward, so you couldn't see the whole tire, scared you would tell me I couldn't race anymore with that tire. (LOL!)

You looked at me with a look on your face that said "Nice try, Walt" (LOL!)

Then said to me "Keep rolling until I tell you to stop".

Luckily I only had some spinning and one little chunk out and could keep racing.

In hindsight, I am glad you cared more about me than I cared about myself that day in an effort to keep me safe, and I appreciate that.

Sometimes we get tunnel vision and disregard our own safety because we get too "caught up in the moment", well, at least I know I do.

Be safe, go fast, and have fun!

safety first check, check, check, then double check. my self I set my bike like when I road raced front caliper bolts wired ect. to me stopping is more important than any thing.I've never failed tech in 25 years of racing (off & on) but I'm a little anal.

I just got home.  Our best run was 252.806 and was achieved yesterday.  We tried to make one more pass yesterday afternoon but our tire came apart.  We tried to run on a borrowed tire/wheel today (Thanks Alan and congrats on your run, too!) and made 1 run with some traction issues so we packed it up.

Bill--contragulations.  You deserve all of the credit you receive.  It was great to visit with you.

Mike, John, D, Boyd, from Third Coast Speed, thanks for building and servicing/supporting the bike--although we didn't get the track record, we'll be back :-)
