Yup yup....

Mother bottle
Tranfer line
Torch
Freezer/ice
Scale
:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :hys:....boy you shoukd see some peoples faces when you fire up the propane tourch to heat either bottle..... :hys:...RUN.

that's because you are taking a big risk,  that torch can cause weak spots in the metal.   should the burst disc not blow for whatever reason(this happens)  you will be sending high velocity shrapnel through yourself and others.

why not just use a baby bottle warmer or a nitrous bottle warmer?   i have seen personally the effects of a weakened cylinder explosion and TRUST ME,  you do not want to be within 100 yards(thats how far pieces of this guy's leg landed).

everyone has their own way of doing things, welcome to the usa....i understand that localized heating changes the molucular structure of metal and causes stress from rapid expansion of a localized area in a short amount of time, you can do it without problems IF u use your brain....i am sure u seen dumb people using torches to heat and then i am sure u seen people heating bottles in a manner that it causes no problems

when i am at the track during the day,the sunlight does a wonderful job of raising bottle tempature evenly, especially here in sunny florida..... 8)

I'm paying 21 bucks a kilo so just about 9 bucks a pound. am thinking I will also get a mother bottle. and do my own fills

Ok I understand about freezing the bottle. but then you put the torch to it while filling to increase the transfer? is that in cold climates?

Bumping this one up...

I just leased a 56lb cylinder from my local AirGas distributor...  It's $70/year for the cylinder itself, and $95 to refill it.  That works out to $1.69/lb for the nitrous itself, so it doesn't seem like it will take too long to make up for the $70 annual lease cost for the big bottle.  Plus, there is a certain convenience factor in being able to fill my bottle myself at home or at the track.

I use a cheap Harbor Freight digital scale to weigh the bottle while filling, and as long as the small bottle is pretty cold, there's no problem getting a full 2lbs. in there.

That's exactly what my buddy does...(his lease is $90 a year and then 2.29 a pound though....still cheaper)

I was fortunite to purchase my bottle out right from a friend that had two owner tanks before the big issue with kids huffing the sheittt.  :grn: I keep my bottle in the trailer, my biggest problem is everyone at the track hitting me up for it so beware of muchers.
