Anyone make top case studs?
« on: May 24, 2009, 08:24:14 PM »
I am the luckiest MFer in the world!

I broke one of the copper washer top case bolts and was able to make a rigged tool and was able to get it out in about 15 minutes!
(much better than splitting the cases after the motor was done!)

I removed the other top case bolts and found thread distortion on another (about to break).

Does anyone make top case studs?

Looked at APE but only found main and cyl..

Thanks!

JH,

No, make sure the holes are clean and run anti seize on the bolts and run the bolts in with a proven good torque wrench, it may be that the last time the bolts were installed they were over torqued.

Then it would have been done by factory Suzuki!

I torqued the piss out of them because I miss read the torque spec.....
For whatever reason I thought the top case bolts were M:9 and clearly didn’t like 23 FP!

chock this one up for being a stupid ass.

I went to the local hardware store & bought comparable grade 8 bolts.
