Ideal AFR on a Gen II?
« on: April 14, 2009, 02:21:20 AM »
Not really sure if there would be much difference in Gen 1 and 2.

I was wondering what would be the ideal air fuel ratio for my 08 busa. I have it set at 13.5 at the moment, but would like to get the best power for my dollar if ya know what i mean. I'm in a learning phase and I'm willing to be a sponge on the subject to any experienced willing teachers with the time. If you do know about the subject and don't have the time its ok. Everybody has to have their priorities straight, and lots of people don't have enough hours in the day. I understand  :thumb:

little background info
looking to tune my bazzaz(Zi-Fi and AFM) better, or learn how to. I know how to set everything, but not sure what it should all be set to. Most of it is still how the installer set it.

I'm not real sharp on the subject but what I hear from loitering around this place for the last few months is 13.5 A/F is ideal but dont go under that .... but some of the guru's will be here to help you shortly , specially with Bazzaz.   :D

there is no magic number due to some area's of the map you will bet in the 14's and others in 12's

check your 330-1320 times with different air fuel ratios and that should give you some ideas.

What have you done to the motor? Turbo? Exhaust? Big Bore? Head Work? Cams? Nitrous? What kind of fuel are you running? Pump? Race? Oxygenated?

13.5:1 is a touch towards lean from a safety view point, especially for a race bike... Give me some more info please...

You should be fine where you are... might try 13.1, 13.2 just to see what difference it makes. Might help keep things a bit cooler too...

What about the turbo applications. Still want to be around the 11.7 mark when under boost?

Just so I know for sure, A higher AFR such as 13.5 means it is running leaner, and a lower number such as 11.5 would be richer

And what would you recomend if your running 91-92 octane fuel, with airfilter and full system exhaust, with the Bazzaz setup.

I've got the Tiforce full titanium system for exhaust.  Plus I have the handle bar switch so I can choose between two maps.  What should I run for the second map, if I want one for making max hp, and the other as a fuel economy map?

Not sure about the max hp but for fuel economy you want 14.7 to 1 thats suppose to be ideal.

u may set at 13.7 during cruising
depend on where u are
think u can go at this range when at abt 10%tps

take my 06 for example. while at 6th gear, at abt 200km/h i am at 10% tps...
so during then there isnt any hard acceleration so u can be quite safe.
anthing more guess abit lower is better. as during then is the safe bet.
i set at 13.2 after 10%
