Found nail in Batilax Rear
« on: September 15, 2008, 11:17:19 PM »
I just had the sad experience of finding a big fat nail in the center of my rear tire. (At least I was parked when I fund it and not going 120 mph)  My bike is a 2007 Busa with 2400 miles and has the original Bridgestone Batilax tires on it. I have only had this bike for 4 weeks so not long enough to know if I like these tires or not. My 2002 Busa has Metzlers and I like the way they stick and seem to wear pretty well. My other bikes have usually had Dunlop D208 ZR's which I liked for the grip but only got about 8k miles out of them. I'm trying to decide if I should replace the back with another Batilax so I can keep the front which looks new still or replace both. And if I replace both what a good choice would be? I don't take it to the track but I live in an area with lots of twisties. Anyone have any good information?

It all depends on what you can deal with... I have personally run with two different brand tires on several occaisions and it was never a problem. Other folks are more sensitive to it.

I personally like the Metzeler Z6 on the rear and M3 on the front - for my ZRX 1200. Good combination of grip and wear

I have run mismatched tires from time to time, no big deal.  (Bridgestone in front, Dunlop in back etc)
