Does anyone know if a Gen2 trans will drop into a Gen1 case?

Haven't seen this b4 but yes its doable.
I have done it myself.  Only "problem" is that the output shaft is longer so you cant use the original sprocket cover
I dont know what I am talking about but I do know that I am right :)

So let's say that he wants to beef it up.

What is the real difference between the latter GenI trans and the GenII transmissions?

And what would he have to do to bring the older version up to GenII specs?

The gen has a bigger output i know that much, i think the sprocket cover may be different also

So, which would be less cash out the door - 08+ Transmission and a change of covers or an output shaft from an 08+ and same type cover?

Then balance the hassle of the change out compared to just dropping a complete and adding the cover?

Apples to apples?
