08 Miss and no code..... Help before I torch it!!!!
« on: July 20, 2009, 03:04:11 PM »
It has been one thing after another with this bike for me and this year has been hell....  Went and tried to make a few passes this weekend and the bike now has a miss....  It started this last week then would clear up.  Now at an idle It kills the plugs.... Put a new set of plugs in and let it idle, 5 minutes later plugs 1,2,3 are black and 4 is clean...... I unplugged my power commander thinking it was bad, no change.  Going down the track the afr shows to be decent around 12.7-13 :1. It seems I lost a lot of bottom end also bike wouldnt 60' at all either. I usually go mid 1.40's but could only manage high 1.5-1.65 this wknd. Mph was down to 142-143. It seems to clear up at higher rpms...

I did a leakdown all cylinders are 2-3% leak
Voltage is 13.1v at idle 14v reved up
coils check out good
ckp plug to ecu wires are good
I am not getting any error codes at all
Checked the oxygen sensor dummy plug with resistor and it was 322 ohms
Map sensor is plugged in and hose connected

Any ideas?? I was wanting to check the crank sensor but I dont have the peak voltage tool they are requiring in the manual. I have a fluke digital meter.  Bad ECU? Im out of freakin ideas with this thing.... It never has ran what I thought it should. best et I have been is a 9.28 @148.

13.1VDC at idle? Mine is 14.4VDC at idle. Guy on another board recently had the rectifier on his new '08 go bad.

I would consider running a can of injector cleaner through the bike, or even consider sending the injectors out for clean / balance.
I know I can do this.  I saw it done in a cartoon once.

Damn I need to read thouroughly before posting :!:
Let it get hot & check cranking compression w/throttle open & battery fully charged..
Plugs getting wet/fouling?wet fuel on plugs or coolant loss...
Could be injector or head gasket letting loose/seeping when hot.
Did you unplug powercommander w/fresh set of plugs installed?
