K2 1000 wont start!! Help!
« on: July 21, 2009, 04:37:52 PM »
YESTERDAY: I put the motor in and it would not start. :bah:

TODAY: I redid the cams and sounds better when turning over, but it still won’t fire up. I check all the coils (while turning over the motor) they all have spark and put NEW plugs. *** So I know its getting FIRE! Now the fuel…I poured some gas down the throttle body just to see if it’ll bump over, but nothing. Any suggestions?? :(

I believe the Fi light is because of the removal exhaust servo stuff.

Only code is C46 (Exhaust control valve actuator).

you have to pull the pin from the exhaust valve to the ecu. from memory its black/brown. that will fix your exhaust code.

Tipping in fuel should get it to fire and maybe run but you could easily put in too much and flood it  so its not quite reliable.
check your fuel pressure,
do you have a compression gauge ?
how far out were your cams , and what sort of build on the motor hi comp all motor or low comp turbo

Thanks I'll do that.

It's a stock motor with yosh stg 1 cams. I followed the instructions off Yosh's web site on setting the cams. I'm almost positive the are set right. I guess it's time to go buy a compression gauge.
One more thing... It's a 03 motor in a 02 bike. I've already milled out the correct trigger and set it at TDC

Ok , i'm about to go the other way, putting a 03 ecu into the 01, just ordered the trigger wheel, are the 03 keyed with a blank spline ??

As mentioned in the busa section lately you can get a real good indication if your cam timing is close by looking at the end of the cams, besides the .1 on the exhaust cam sprocket there is a = in the centre of the camshaft, that will be lined up with the top of the head facing forward (unless its a inlet on exhaust)
the inlet cam on inlet side will have a - facing to the rear and up a couple of degrees up from level with the head, it these are right even if its not dialed in 100% it still should run.

maybe double check tdc to be sure your crank index is correct and your not getting a false reading through the sight hole

Here is the trigger from the 03/04 motor. I pulled it out and replaced it w/ the 01/02 trigger and milled out the notch. I will recheck the TDC and the markings on the INK and EXH cams.

Had to do that on 05+ busas when fitting a cyl spacer , used to advance the crank gear 5 splines , now you have to remove a spline to do it .

Hey if you cant get it to start give me a call.  Maybe I can walk you thru it.  Sounds like to me you will have to put everything gen 1 or gen 2 ...meaning 02 trigger with 02 wiring harness & ecu.  803-682-3286

Same problem when I went to start my turbo 750 last year after 1 year of building. After I finished crying I did the mod and went a boosting.  I know I don't have a busa but it worked.   Pull the wire and throw that shit away You don't need it for the bike to function.
