I see you have started the T500 project  :woot:

This is a very rare bike. Most Ive seen were 750s.

Keep us posted HOS  :thumb:

I forgot to ask:

Is the grey colour original?

Most of them were blue.

Hey Mike ! How are you ?  :D
Havent seen you around much lately.

Had to start it Mike !   Getting on my mind with it just sitting there on the bench
Yeah the Titan is RARE !
The GTs are still quiet common.
I just love the bike, its so simple ? I keep having to remind myself that I have all the parts for the bike.

Bit of a slip up with the paint, a great painter mate of mine used the wrong Suzuki blue. He was the painter for Neil Hodgsons INS Ducati race bikes at the time.
The paler blue he used was from the GS750 of the same era. I didnt want to make a fuss because he`s such a decent guy  :thumb:

Im fine. Thanks HOS.
Was on vacation the last 2 weeks with the family.
Now I have a lot to do with my new bike. I want to be ready one week before the big race in Hockenheim.

Your project is really nice.
An older friend of mine bought that model in 1980 (used) when I was 15.
Oh man, he was the KING

Although my 1st bike was a 50 !!  8)

This is what my 1st bike looked like...  8)

Took all the peripherals of the motor this week and split the gearbox/engine cases  :thumb:

Not bad for a 34 year old engine ?  8)

Clutch and gear selector side

Gear lever rod.

and finally split it....

Clean !

Found the source of the casing damage.
Some meathead had forced the bearing locating dowels through the shells instead of "locating" them.

There is a LOT of cleaning up and prep work to be done before anywhere near rebuilding the motor.
The cutch basket is too old and weak, so I will either have to find an OE one or have a billet one made using the old one
as a template.
But its all good fun !  :D

Yes, its better to use a new solid outer basket.
I saw on one of the pics, that a piece of the basket is bursted off .  :?

Thanks for the pos feedback and encouragement Mike  :D

Yeah one of the "fingers" of the clutch basket was bust when I took the engine case off
and I broke another one removing the clutch nut. Oh well, the alloy has gone weak anyway.

To keep all the engine bolts together and in correct order I used an old car wash sponge and poked each bolt in the correct sequence
from front to baclk and left to right into the sponge  :thumb:

I spray gunk`d the engine today and washed it out in the kitchen sink early this morning ....shh...

Kinda scary to think its a 120 mph bike when you look at how its made !
In the 1970s it must have been quiet something.

I do know the T500s had their own race series and people tuned the nuts off them.

As of today.....

Stipped the gearbox down to the bare bones, managed to extract two of the dowels that had been punched through the cases, one more to go
and a bust bolt to extract.

Been using wet and dry paper "dry" and copper brushes, also the Dremmel with brush attchements.
The castings arent best tbh, but they will be by the time I`m done  :D

Thanks Mike  :D.... someway to go.... the camera lies !

I reckon we could do with a "classics corner" on the members projects area ? I`t would be fun ?  :D

Most people have a classic tucked away in the corner of the garage.
Show some of the newbs what bikes were like back in the 70s  :thumb:  :D

Finally after soaking the front forks in penetrating oil for weeks they submitted to the power of the large mole grips  :D  :thumb:

Progress on the bike. I have cleaned the locked solid clutch cable, and fitted all the rear brake components.
Now got a working rear brake  :thumb: Not sure how well the SLS drum brake will actually work in practice though  :?
Mudgaurd and stop lamp assy fitted  :D

Thanks for the encouragement !!
