SO it made 170hp with the pipe, cams and tune and it gained 10hp more with the porting/thinner head gasket?  Interesting....thanks for posting.  I will be wanting to do some bolt on type mods to my 1000 in the future. I would have already thrown cams in it aside from the fact I was worried about hurting the low end power.  My 01 is pretty damn torquey at 4k....I know cams will hurt everything below 6k.

Did yours feel noticeably softer down low under 5k?

Mine is only making 154hp now(best pull) with the pipe/tune etc, I figured cams would get me to a solid 160hp, head and compression maybe 170-175hp...... Yours was quite a bit stronger then mine. :thumb:

They claim very little lose of bottom end w/just the 540/566 grind webs , (same bottom end to 9k)...But  gains will be had  & then some by additional of
compression (midrange)............For instance my 1070 made low 90ft lb.  My completly stock botom end w/same compression made 86 ft. lb.  with all stock bottom (01'-02'') But the 988 lived due to piston weight etc......
The 1070 w/stock rods put hole in case   (my fault early stages & rods were said to be suffiicient)
I use h beams  if going w/rods now , busa the other handw/hold up to 1397 F.W.I.W.......roll ons 7k & above the stock bottom end 1k would out run the 1070 w/stock head hand down.

+ lot of extra work disasembling w/intergraded cases...........also note one chart is std & other actual. :thumb: :thumb:

Thanks for the info....I'm gonna have to look into doing something, I like the head/cams idea as I don't want reliability problems.  My buddy on his 08 busa was pulling me at the strip last night.  I could get out on him but by 2nd gear he would start coming around me.  He was running consistant 145-146 mph(he is about 230lbs suited) and I was going 141-141.8 mph on EVERY pass(I'm 190lbs suited).... I need to find me at least 20hp to run with him....without spray.

Head, cams, compression made a big difference on mine & I would ride it a lot as I would have a lot more people to race than the 1507
only one or two people would give me a good race w/ the big motor.....I went down one tooth on front & rear sprocket to take advantage of all stock swingarm w/extended ecu would wheelie it's ass off out of second where I would lose some ground but still ride the turns @ the gap(etc) & big motor would just launch out of second straight to the limiter in 6th... :D :thumb:

Talk about raising the dead , couldnt help myself.. Damn I miss this bike , the missing pics were dyno charts at various stages along the way. The oil pan was never  taken off this bike, couterbalancer intact , oem pistons etc... All top end mods. Thinner headgasket(.008 yosh.) , milled head .005, self ported head , .385/.335 webcams , 600cc springs , extented rpm's ecu courtesy of old buddy Dave O , secondary butterflies removed from throttle bodies , k&n air fliter , Ti force exhaust , stock height , wheelbase , 180rwhp , 86 ft lbs.......... :whp:
Oh yeah and PUMP GAS ONLY , what a hoot was to ride ,lost her to hurricane katrina... I figure if I woulda removed counterbalancer , used bmc race air filter . I FIND THAT EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE considering it started as a 145rwhp piece.... :thumb:

I still have my old 01....Still mint condition...  Motor is still stock....LOL  Never could bring myself to mod it.....If/when the stock motor goes south and I have to rebuild, I will definitely do a 1070/head/cams but....until then, I'll keep ridin er dirty....  15k miles and ticking... :tu:
