West Coast mile racing?
« on: October 03, 2009, 12:33:41 AM »
MKM has been putting on Open Road Race events for 7 years, so they know how to put on a motorsport event.

Report this postReply with quote MKM Announces Mojave Mile Shootout on March 6, 2010

MKM Racing Promotions is very excited to announce what we hope is a new permanent racing venue in Mojave, CA. We have reached an agreement with the Mojave Air and Space Port, a private airfield, to host our Mile Shootout event on March 6, 2010. This facility features a 12,000’ runway which will allow for very fast speeds (250+ mph) and a comfortable braking margin. Since Mile Shootout racing is already very popular in Texas, the Midwest, and the East Coast, we look forward to being the premiere site for Mile Shootouts in the West.

The Mojave Mile will be open to both cars and motorcycles, and, depending on its success, is forecasted to be held multiple times per year. MKM is developing a dedicated website for this event, http://www.mojavemile.com, to host all of the information related to the event, including a forum discussion board. Watch for this site to become active in October 2009. In the meantime, mark your calendar!

Any idea of what the entry fee will cost? Are the rules going to be inline with any other racing associations rules?

I have always wanted to make a pass on a paved surface.

The entry fees will be the least of your factors, figger $200 a class.

I made 7 runs, 211hp, 3 runs over 200, at the Texas mile. Had a brand new Bridgestone bt56 and had very little wear on it.

Tinny guy,
I dunno what tire you use, but i get 25-30 passes out of a Pirelli Dragon 180 SC-2, 230+hp
200-222mph depending on wind/venue

correction:  just looked at my log, i got 34 x 1 mile passes + 6 x 1.5mile passes = 40 total;  tread now gone, time to retire.
(no burnouts, no dyno time)

The only people I know who are burning up tires in a few runs are turbo guys with lots of hp-300+

I could get 4 races easy out of my Pirelli.  In 08' used one for 3 races and changed it just because.  At some point I think I have 300Hp.

There are a lot of factors involved... throttle control/delivery, tire set up and...well you'll figure it out :-)
