Considering our upfront costs, and fees paid to the airport for use of the runway, four security guards, and 2 Union tower workers, not likely, as we have priced the event to make your costs as low as possible.  We think 12-14 runs in 2 days for $379 is pretty reasonable and works out to about $20-25 per run on a top-notch facility with electronic scoring.

Next Mojave Mile Sept 25-26

The title says it -- our next event is Sept 25-26 at the Mojave Airport. This and all future events are 2-day meets, and you will have a choice of paying and running for one day or two. Entry fees are still being worked out, but expect to pay $210 for a single day and around $379 for two days.

The weather in September should be better for faster runs, as it will be warmer and hopefully not as windy. We are making adjustments to our program based on "lessons learned" from the March event, so watch the Mojave Mile forums for the latest on these. We will repost new forms for registration soon, but you can be assured that the date is fixed.

Mike is there any chance in the future of seeing lower entry fees?

Thanks for the reply Mike! I was excited to hear earlier that the potential to run 4-5 events a year was in place. Unfortunately I will not be able to afford to run all the events at those prices. You guys put on a great event and your staff was very polite and helpful, I look forward to racing there again, thank you.

Maybe in the future with more people entering you maybe be able to price it down some.  No where compares to Maxton pricing of $100 for 2 days and 8-10 runs a day.  TX was the big money one until Mojave came along.  Tx is something like $325 for 3 days.  FL was high, but has come down already to $150 a day and will most likely bottom out at $125 a day.  Guys at FL are putting in 10 runs by 3pm.

You just need more enteries to divide the cost over.  TX bumped their cut off, was 160, now I think 180??  Sold 144 spots in less then 24 hours.  325X144=$46,800  Not bad for a weekend  :thumb:

Until we know from Mojave Airport what they want to charge us for the extra day's use of the facility, we will not know for sure how much the 2-day fees will cost, so give us a little time, hopefully we can adjust this cost.

As for our runs, we put down 297 runs with 81 active racers in <8 hours in our first try, and this will dramatically improve because in our next event the early turnout from the runway should be open, saving ~15 seconds per run for 97% of the vehicles who can brake in time.  For comparison, the Top Gun Run had 60 racers and 227 runs over the same period.  Maxton had 1996 total runs over 10 days in 2009, or 200 runs per day.  Texas ran over 900 runs on their last event over 3 days, which compares to us.

Our stated goal is to have the best Mile Shootout event in the country, and obviously that means having more than just a nice facility -- we need it to be reasonably priced with the necessary support capabilities everyone wants as well.  Your point about pricing is well taken, and we are listening!
