A/F MAPPING/MAPPING Automatically.
« on: December 07, 2002, 01:44:00 PM »
The other thread is so full and convulted, I felt the need to open a new, more specific one.

Lets FORGET trying to build an IN BIKE ON THE FLY TUNER, and lets concentrate on talking about a TUNING DEVICE ONLY that builds your static map.

The concept of a VERY EXPENSIVE AND SUPER FAST O2 SENSORE coupled with a breaking dyno. You plug your bike in, run what ever dyno runs the tuning program tells you to, and you roll out with a good map, directly and automatically uploaded to your ECU.

I was thinking that these would be givens:

1. The program would have bike specific information to help it tune specific models.

2. The dyno would have an air flow system that you could place in front of the RAM AIR flow on all bikes that have it, that can be speed settable... i.e. 70MPH wind. Keep in mind that im talking about 2 small tubes that go right in front of RAM INTAKES of the bike. Or perhaps a small, but very powerful fan that goes about 2 feet in front of the bike, and is speed adjustable.

Now, could this be done? Or has it been?

Your thoughts?

After you study that - go to www.factorypro.com - and read about the SFI.

It would be nice if someone in Calif. would go there and get their bike tuned so we could find out how that works.  Actually, find out the results of the tuning.  It evidently does it in the ECU and there is no add-on like a PCII or PCIII.

Yeah, that is the one I mentioned - Teka SFI.  I'll send Marc another E-Mail and see if he will post here on it like he did on their dyno before the crash.
