How much can I raise the rev limiter without engine damage?
« on: January 28, 2010, 03:38:17 PM »
I want to raise the rev limiter of my gen1 turbo Busa.
What do you think, what rpm's could get critical to the engine components.
Do you have any experience?

I plan to raise it up to app. 11200 (hard cut)

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Sorry, I forgot to say that Ive installed crower rods and JE pistons.
The head with cams, valves and valve-springs is still stock.

I have run 11.300 rpm on my Yosh cammed NAengine for years. No problems.
(stock valves and stock springs )
What the boost does however I havent got a clue.
I dont know what I am talking about but I do know that I am right :)

Does it really make a difference that it is turbcharged and making big power as to how high you rev it? How are Horsepower and how high you rev the internals related (other than maybe high manifold pressure causing the valves to not have enough net seat force? I'd rev it until it stops making power as long as you have low lift cams and good spings. Might not even make power at high revs.

I think I will set the rev limiter at 11200 at the beginning.
We will see what happened on the dyno next time  :?
