Cams in Gen II
« on: February 05, 2010, 03:25:29 PM »
What's a good cam combo for a GEN II with stock bore. With and without headwork? Counting coins and dont want to make a mistake!

Propably depends on target use - stock engine with cams only vs 1441cc higher compression for strip and street.

E.g. my 240+hp 1441cc gen2 engine is built by Bryan Snyder (bryansnyder@att.net) and head is from Jim (Y2K). Fairly decent head, cams, and other parts combo.

Yoshimura has just released a Stage 1 cam for GEN II Hayabusa/B-King.
Intake:   9,5mm TRUE lift ( lift at the valve. If you measure the cam itself it will show 9,7mm lobe ) 249 degree duration
Exhaust 8,7mm 235 degree duration.

I dont know the price yet but I am sure they are expensive.
These are made as a "drop in" even with stock exhaust.
I dont know what I am talking about but I do know that I am right :)

Bryan what hp will that combo make? Where would you degree the cams in? Also that would be on mrx01 or q16.

I don't really know what horsepower just the cams would make. I have always done some other work to the engine when installing cams. Piston to valve clearance will dictate your cam timing. Make sure you check it. I would guess 205-210 with just cams and good fuel.

Brock's IN031 and stock intake on the exhaust side.

An that would be better than 385 megacycles? Wanting to do 1440 bore, cp pistons some head work with a good street cam setup.

Brock's IN031 with EX041(basically a pair of .385s),Competition CNC head, in a 1441 was good for 218 hp on Brock's Dyno. The customer has been 162 in the quarter. Nice streetbike.

I have never installed a pair of .385s in a stock bore busa.

My 1471 has 385 cams, low compression ( around 12-1 ) and a hand portet head.   225 RWHP.
