Identifying fuel injectors on K8
« on: February 22, 2010, 03:38:15 AM »
I have two K8 motors here, one has just been rebuilt after a fire. As a result we had to completely strip everything down to clean. Unfortunately I didn't check to see if the primary and secondary injectors are different.

They are different - one set has WC17 and the other WC18. The injectors on the other K8 motor are ALL WD01.

Please can somebody help me with this? Which would be the better combination of injectors to run?

BTW The motors are for circuit racing cars, which currently have Bazzaz systems, but will probably be converted to use ECUEditor in the near future.

Best regards,
Neill.

If they are anything like previous Kehin injectors, teh numbers do not relata to the injector characteristics at all.

If you are running stock engines, run the stock injectors, no need to change at all. Even for highly modified (other than big power turbo or dry nitrous) you do not need to upgrade.
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

Thanks to you both... I'll pop them in and see what happens!

The motors are naturally aspirated, but with modified cams, crank, etc and are 1450cc.

ive made 280 hp with stock injectors, and there is now much more duty cycle left with ecu editor, over 300 hp shouldn't be any issue

I think we're on around 250... but we haven't had the cars on a dyno, so I am not 100% sure. I am thinking about running the motors in and self-mapping them with the Bazzaz, then dynoing the car with the Bazzaz, then redynoing with ECU Editor to do a back-to-back.

I'll post the results. I am hoping to do the tests within the next 2 weeks... but I may have to wait until after the next race weekend due to time constraints (I have 5 cars running in the same series)

Thanks,
N.
