Well I don't want to say much but my buddy tought it was cool 'till  an old man with a POS pick up decided to turn left with no signals or nothing on a two lane road, the other fork snapped and the caliper was hanging, but it looked cool! He's okay suffered some minor rash....I stopped just fine, I was dying to say "I told you so" but he was in pain, personally I won't do it myself, now he rides with both.

that could be skill level, 1 caliper can lock the front tire and lift the ass specially under 100 mph. But add alot of heat and 1 goes to shit, fast. There is massive stopping power in the sheer size of those rotors, its about heat though.

Are you saying the fork broke from running only one front brake?

Maybe the crash broke it?

I don't see how you could break the fork, otherwise hundreds of cruisers would have one fork broken off.

The issue of running one front rotor is that you have to apply twice the pressure to the lever for the same braking power and have half  the ability to dissipate heat energy stored from repeated stops.

That is very true, but on the other hand, it was easier for me to clean that front wheel and boy did it shine! :hys:

The idea of taking half of the stopping power from the front, which is 70% of your stopping power, is rather dumb to me unless u upgrade your brake system to the one caliper that has more pistons in it that will compensate for the other rotor.
Don't be scared, twist the throttle, it's only a BUSA.

Anybody have a source for a deleted rotor block off plate.  GSXR 1000 wheel.  I've seen them for a Busa but not a 1000.

I've done that and he doesn't do the block off plates anymore.  Thanks though.   :thumb:

Well I see very few fast bikes at the track with both up front. I KNOW it is fine at the track and I am in the process of doing this on my second bike now. I dont ride on the street anymore so I am not worried. I have never had an issue and I do not know a single local that has. Some dont even run a rear either on some very fast Grudge bikes. I am keeping the rear since if anything happens I can at least stop and pass tech of course. Most folks would not care to ride a Busa on Nitrous going WOT at the tree either..........Heck, folks claim my 16t-45t is way too much gearing yet ask how to get their 60ft lower?????   Street riding is a different story and I can't personally recommend what I have done when it comes to one rotor on the roadway.

You guys are funny.  :D
I don't make it a habit to agree with Pat, but for once he has several good points! :hys:
Just this time tho.  :P
You guys that have never done it don't have a clue what you are talking about, so just say what you KNOW.
It can go something like this.
I've never done it, BUT.................
OR,
It was on the internet, so it's true..........
You know, something we can atleast laugh at.

Then we have at least 2 different guys on this thread with stretched and lowered bikes.
Now, if you are gonna ruin a Busa by removing 1 disc, because they already don't stop well enough.
Don't you think the same applies for lowering and stretching a Busa that doesn't handle in the twisties like a GIXXER??  :P :P
Ohh, I wouldn't lower and stretch a Busa, it won't turn anymore.........

OK,
Here's my point. We all live and ride in different environments.
You guys that use your Busas in the mountians for the twisties, we don't tell you that you shouldn't lift your bike and shorten the wheelbase.
I personally think that's the dumbest thing you could do with a Busa, but it's yours. Have fun with it.
You just completely disabled it for drag or land speed racing. You wanna rail, get a GIXXER!!

Not everyone gives 2 shits about the twisties or racing thru LA traffic during rush hour.

You guys that say if you remove 1 disc, you loose half of your stoping power.
GET REAL..........
It's not like 50 + 50=100. It's just NOT that simple.
By that reasoning, if you have a 160hp Busa that will go 180mph on top end,
you can install a turbo that makes 320 hp and run 360mph on top end.
GOOD LUCK with all of that happening!  :thumb:

Take it from someone that has done it to several Busas.
You WILL loose stoping power.
Your brake lever is much stiffer than before,
but you can STILL skid your front tire on cement.
How much more stopped does that front wheel have to be??? :hys:

FWIW,
I'm just raggin you guys. :finger:
I've had short Busas, and long Busas. Dual discs and single discs.
It's all about what YOU want to do............... 8)

Au contraire.  I love to lap GIXXER 1000s and R6s with my Busa during track days.  Especially when the owners of those bikes inform me that Hayabusas don’t handle prior to the first session!

Where is everybody?

DUAL DISC IS THE WAY TO GO ON THE STREET PERIOD.

Plus a busa doesn't look completed with just a single front rotor.

Dual disc are gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
If you don't have enough right hand, you shouldn't be on a Busa........ :moped:

Not about enough right hand, its about the ability to absorb heat, both fronts on my '08 are dark blue, I think a single would have gotten hot enough to fade completely.
