Another 08 busa valve help thread. Please help
« on: March 14, 2010, 02:48:29 PM »
OK. First trip out on the dope (36hp) and I hurt the motor. Im pretty sure its in the top end. I think a shim fell out. I think its gonna happen again if I dont at least upgrade the springs. Im thinking Carpenters. With better valves or springs I can put more juice to it. The bike was tuned for the shot. I only got 6 passes out of it.
The question is as follows.
1. Can I just change the springs and keep the Ti stock valves?
2. If I go with s/s valves, will I need to have machine work done for the valve job?
3. What would yall do? Thanks in advance.

if you got the money go with the ss valves(just lap in unless you have a bunch of miles) and carpenter 60# springs and if money is tight go with gen 1 springs and your ti valves. let me know i have probly 5-8 sets of gen 1 springs with 0-1000 miles on them for cheap.

I was thinking about keeping the Ti valves and pre 08 stock springs. Im wondering if its worth it to drop in a cam while Im in there. Im gonna look into the Carpenter springs. If I go 60# wont I need better retainers?

I hate the well while Im in there thoughts. Im thinking carpenter springs and  ferrera s/s valves. Now I need to know if i can run that with stock 08 retainers, pre 08 stock retainers, or if I will need high$ Ti retainers.

Ok s/s valves and 60#springs. I still have to get into it and make sure this is the problem.

Cool, glad it was nothing melted.  Get the valves/springs in it and have no more problems.   That was a fuck up n suzuki's part putting those junk ass valve springs in them...

Lucky you didn't spit a keeper and drop the valve.

Light springs "freeing up HP" never made sense to me... The extra camshaft torque to lift the valve against a heavier spring is mostly gained back with the torque the spring generates on the back side of the cam.  I'd be curious to know if the difference between 28# springs (what I measured on my Gen II head) and 60# springs is more than a single HP.  Doubt it.
I know I can do this.  I saw it done in a cartoon once.

Alan. I need to call Mark still. I ordered the Carpenters, 48hp and 60 hp jets (not sure if the fuel system can handle 60) and the gasket. Schnitz says 3-25 delivery.

Just to understand why, is this bike with an ignition shift kill box ?

The Bazzaz is doing the kill for the shift.
