Need some big guy advise
« on: April 22, 2010, 12:05:47 PM »
Stock motor 05 lowered 6" over, small box mod all short stacks, 4-2-1 pipe stock gearing currently. Took her to the track and my mph seemed way down. Highest trap in the 1/8 was a 106, now granted I'm a 300lb guy but still.
I'm thinking a do a gear change again it was 16/44 but it spun too much on the street even with me on it and I've gotten to liking the low cruise rpm. What would y'all suggest?
Clutch mods? Is just adding heavy springs enough? If so what about when I finally get the nitrous working?

i was 280 brock pipe, +6, 16/43, all shorts and full box mod, welded hub/heavy springs, airshifter and my best motor mph was 113.43.  even my bad launches were 111-112's.  i switched to 16/45 and lost 20lbs and went to 114.33 on a motor with bad blowby that day.  actually lost #4 cylinder later on a nitrous run.

you definitely need more gear

I weigh 260 in shorts and run a 16/44. I would definitely go to at least a 45. However, what type of tire are you running, that will play a big part in possible spinning also. Keep us posted :thumb:

What do your time slips say???Trap speed is no longer important to me it's quickness...If your time is going down with a low trap speed your doing fine...Also I would watch the gearing it can help or hurt your time...
Getting "Blown" is a hell-of-a drug...STUNNAH...
