« on: April 28, 2010, 04:48:45 PM »
Motor was freshly rebuild trans undercut etc.. when on a stock arm I don't feel it but when I put my new swingarm on If i launch hard or just cracked the throttle real hard in first gear the bike feels like it is jumping teeth up front chain seems to be tight I don't want to over tighten it the gearing is 16 40 right now any suggestions. maybe I am not running my chain tight enough.

i would say tighten the chain tighter when you have a longer chain you have more play

Sounds like ya have a loose chain or sprockets that are severely worn.

Do you have clutch mod? If not I would install one. Also if the bike is lowered completely the swingarm could be hitting the battery box which has that same feeling.

Had that happen myself. I had got a junk sprocket for the front through schnitz. Was not a vortex because they were out. Put it on and it did that very thing. It was on the 14 i had. Took it off cause someone else had the exact problem with the same manufacturer of that sprocket and turned out they had a problem with this. Took it off and put a vortex on and problem went away. Just like it was jumping gears. Whats your front sprocket?

if you have a stok sprocket, put that on nd try it.

What are the specs of the bike? length, total weight, horsepower, etc.
Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.

go up in front so you can add more in back .the larger dia sprockets won't let the chain slack effect them as bad go 18 45

I would rec. going bigger up front too....but if want to run the 16 up front....check chain tension with you on it. When you sit on it and launch the chain loosen's up a bit.

Like these guys stated. Use the rear for gearing change especially on gen 1s. The gen 2 has a 18 front to begin with. If I ever change gearing it will be in the back only. 17 aint so bad but when you go down to a 16 its starting to get a little tight on the bend. Hope thats all it was :thumb:
