Fuel gauge

Anyone feel like their fuel gauge isn't always telling the truth or is it just there so you know you have a full tank or nearly empty?

Mine will go about 100kms before the gauge even starts to move. Another 100kms and the gauge will be showing 1/2 a tank left. Another 100kms and it's showing empty. When the light comes on I have about a gallon left.
