Hayabusa GEN1 secondary fan installation
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:07:02 PM »
Well after overheating in rush hour traffic and having to sit on the side of I-75 for a few minutes I decided to look for better cooling.

First I started by using Redline Water Wetter and installing a Schnitz racing coolant temp switch. I also sourced a pair of 08 hayabusa fans on Ebay for 35$ shipped!!

I started by removing the factory plug and using one I had on hand..

New one installed...

I ran the wiring thru the front fairing so it wouldnt melt on the engine or headers

fuse block side

new plug for fan ready for a fan!!

I wired it in to the existing harness

fan installed and plugged in..

How I attached fan to radiator

Heres a short video of the fan running and shutting off

You might want further arsenal - add a manual switch to override and Muzzy fan blades (40% better cooling) for both.

WARNING * DO NOT RUN 'PRESTONE DEX-COOL' WHATEVER YOU DO! *

yea Im running coolant specified for motorcycles also muzzy blades are available for each but you have to buy the pair for the 08-10 where I only need one..

guess if I bought both I could sell the second fan to another GENI user for there secondary fan.

You beat me to it. There is always SOMEONE that will need that. I guarantee that. Believe me, that is one of the best bang for your buck cooling purchases you can do aside from the second fan. Just give yourself the option of the manual switch though and you will be completely set.

Nice mod! XS Boost Performance sells remote fan switches too, all plug and play. I got one of those and love it. Now I need to do this and I'll be good for the SoCal summers!

While you are in there you might want to relocate your IAT from the airbox to the middle of the left ram-air tube. Trust me. You will thank me.
