left for dead, drag race project
« on: July 07, 2010, 10:44:01 PM »
so i picked up this 2004 wrecked bike from a friend at a salvage yard...

in the truck

it starts and runs, 10k on the clock

a hayabusa bomb went off in my garage

picked up a new frame from a board member!

started throwing it all back together

made my own block offs quick

getting there quick, need some more parts yet for the front end, forks, and triples were bent too badly to reuse, sucks but ide rather drive strait down the track at 150+

RCC extensions on the way, lowering links, oil cooler block offs, and gunna nitpick from there!

Good luck to you, brother.

Do you know if the rider survived whatever accident trashed that Busa as badly as it did?

they said he did, broken arm, pretty lucky.

i just bought a front end from another member,

2 inch lowered forks, shaved caliper mounts on one side, and strait lower triple clamp and slide through adjustable upper clamp.

pretty excited!

only things left on my list are...

extend the rear brake line, and caliper support.

new chain

clutch lever

i need a windscreen yet

then throw in oil and coolant in the motor and fire it up.

my temp gauge seemed to be busted, or the sensor was bad, just pegs hot the minute you power on the cluster.

ill see what else comes up once its rideable

I've got a stock screen i can throw in with the front end for free if you want it?  Unless you're planning on getting a double bubble, in that case I have one of those but would want $25 for it.

did the temp gauge read like that when you started the motor on the wrecked bike?  Check to make sure you have the temp sensor hooked up.

Hey I cracked that screen trying to get it in the box last night (I honestly barely flexed it), pretty rediculous...

I think I may have another one laying around, I'll try to find it and if I do I'll send it out seperately to ya.  Forks will go out on my lunch break here in a couple hours.

Also, if those pegs are broke on the rearsets, do the Buell Peg mod, cheap and makes it easer to get your legs up after a launch, plus its more comfortable, can't go wrong.

I have a 4 over race tail if you need it.  It needs a little prep work before paint though
