Thanks everybody. Ryan snd a lot of people are having tire issues. Ryan got to 200 and lost traction. Biilly Shoemaker has ruined two tires, Papi the same, Pat Womack ruined his on the first run. Jackb750 set a record dont remember what. Thanks to Knecum for a good bullet, Larry forstall for his continuing support, Johnny Cheese for a great tune, Tiger Racing for some great parts.

  Fred

This sucks about the tires - is it related to the new 'race tire' rule? Or is it something else? I heard the salt was in excellent condition. I wonder if all the tires with issues were brand new.

Keep kickin' ass Fred.

This sucks about the tires - is it related to the new 'race tire' rule? Or is it something else? I heard the salt was in excellent condition. I wonder if all the tires with issues were brand new.

Keep kickin' ass Fred.

Why did they make the "racing tires" rule? Most racing tires are much softer than street tires, and degrade more quickly... :?: I can see not allowing certain tires, like Shinko 003's...but other than that, it seems like a bad rule.

Welcome to 3 months ago  :D

Here's the thread where all this was discussed on LR.com.

http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/topic,7946.0.html

BUT, I'm not jumping to conclusions yet, we don't know what the issues are, it might have nothing to do with the race tires.

For sure throttle control is critical - no tire will withstand spinning for miles...

Well from what i heard, Fred is getting ready to make a pass soon going after a 219.?? record..with the fairings on.. I also heard the Joe Amo is finished for the meet due to handling problems with that front tire. He is coming to WOS thats it from what i'm told, don't quote me on this info though.. No real fast bikes there..Ryan is having tire problems..Will post more when i get more info..

Sorry Shane I thought I saw a post or two from you on the tire topic on the other board..... Must be yet another "shane"...

Dean I didn't mean to sound like an azz.. sorry  / Rough laying around most of the day ... Back troubles SUX!

Most people don't' "SEEK" Shane that what makes this sport even more dangerous.  You can lead a horse to water but.....  For example, Long swingarms on the salt with little no to ballast / weight transfer... etc etc etc..  They ask, you try to educate but in the end they are going to do what they are going to do...  It make a person not even wanta answer but as you pointed out try another one Mat 7:12  same school of thought... Life like racing is one big circle, it will come back around... Have we done everything we could to help each other run as safe as possible?  Speed and Records don't make you special....

One thing I do is seek! That's why I asked the question...

I don't race at any SCTA events, but i was looking for the logic/justification behind the rule. I have yet to find it.

Thanks to all for pointing me in the right direction.  :thumb:

I didn't post there, obviously. Looks like a bullshit rule to me....but, then again, what do I know?

I don't race at Bonneville, so why would I even look there a few months back (Landracing SCTA stuff) for information??

Nonetheless, thanks for the info, Dean. Sorry I am not one of the most informed/fastest guys on this board. That makes people special.  Right Shane??

Shane

PS. For those who are into that sort of thing....Matthew 7:1.

Whoa... I didn't mean anything personal, I was just trying to catch you up (and anyone else interested) on the history of this brand new rule, and the controversy.
