I'd stay at 40-50. Probably closer to 40. It PROBABLY won't come apart with an 80 shot, but if it does, you will wish you had rods in it then....

It is a gen1 or gen2?

Get a damn good tune with absolutely no detonation. Spray a 40 shot.

The Gen II rods are strong! You can spray that 50-60 with no problem but 80 I would put rods in it. :thumb:

Valve springs are definitely weak,  I personally floated 2 exhaust valves on an 80 shot with APE 47lb springs and .020 spacers.  With that said, I am now running APE's 65lb springs with the .020" spacers while ramping in a 200 hp shot, 1 complete season with no problems.  Of course, I'm running good rods, pistons, valves, and etc.

In the imortal words of one of our tuners here, "Pill till you kill it, then back up one!".  Seriously though, I would put 45hp to it and keep it safe.  Save your money for some better parts then put more to it when you have the "insurance" inside the motor.
