when talking about small or large end, i'm referring to the fork ends that the axel goes through.the small spacer end will be .807'' thick ,the larger end will be .625'' thick. being that the fork tube axel holes are larger than the R1,you will need to increase just the outboard o.d. to 1.500'' for both wheel spacers. this is the portion of the spacer that rest up against the forks (use the stock R1 spacer as a comparison). the R1 axel is a smaller diameter than the busa axel so you will need to shim the R1 axel to fit the busa forks by way of machined (out of aluminum)sleeves.the dims for the sleeves are:large end o.d. of 1.258''  -i.d. of 1.104''-length of 1.595'' .you will have a wall thickness of .077''.      small end sleeve o.d. of .981''   i.d. of .868''  wall thickness of .0565''    length of  1.595'' .       .002'' will be your axel clearance to sleeve.next is to shortened the R1 axel.machine .170'' off the small end & .075'' off the big end.R1 axel should have a after machined length of 9.470''.axel bolt will need a end washer size i.d 9/16 o.d. 1-9/32'' or1-5/16''.front rotors need to be spaced out .240'' to line up with calipers.order from grainger-part#6te19 alum spacers (10 come in a pack.sized.250''.you can hand sand them down to .240'' or run them as is..010'' off per side is o.k.). graiger part # 6eu30 8mm shouldered bolts, order 2 packs.these are for rotor bolts.

now for the rear.use the R1 rear brake assy.i ordered my triangle brake stay from adams perf.it is their brake stay for the 2nd gen busa chromoly swingarm set up .for use with R1 rear brake assy you will need to drill the ADAMS stay hole out a little as the R1 bolt used to bolt the stay in place is larger than the busa bolt.i ordered a light weight yana-shiki rear brake rotor for the R1 rim.i'm using  09' R1 & up rims assy, also i am using the stock 09' R1 front rotors (little better cooling/lighter than the 08' & older).to space the rear rim,use a 1/8 washer on the outboard of the sprocket drive side & with R1 rear brake hanger use a spacer of 3/8''between hanger & swingarm.to note i'm using a chromoly swingarm.well thats it boys, i hope this helps.if anyone needs help ,pm your tele# and i will further explain.  the R1 rear axel and busa axel is of the same diameter.

So what is the weight difference between the R1 setup and the aftermarket wheels i.e. Marchesini etc?

yea you need the 04-06 so you get enough grip
So what are the differences between the 04-06 and the 07 up front wheel? IS it just the rotor? Could you just buy a front from a 04-up  and just source a 04-06 front brake rotor for the newer front wheel?

just the rotors are tad lighter & have better heat dissipation because of the factory radial edge of the rotor is grooved.all of the R1 -5 spoke rims are the same.i cut just over 6 lbs in total weight when i switched from the busa rims to the R1 rims,to include lightweight rear yana shiki rotor, low profile pirelli 90/80-17 mt75 front tire & shinko hook up rear tire.

as far as the aftermarket rims in price compared to the R1 mod price,i don't know.if it's maybe another 3 lbs more in savings but cost $2,000.00  then  i rather put that money someplace else.like in savings or a retirement fund.

If anyone comes around the front axle I'm in need here.
