dragracing rear shock

i have read here and there that that when ordering a rear shock you have to let them know your weight.some don't
why????

For Spring rates...  Swingarm length will vary it also.
Most shocks use a standard Spring Rate with enough adjustability that it will cover your variances.
But a Heavy Hitter will need a heavier Spring!
