390km/h (242mph) was done maybe with ~350hp on the wheel. With some minor changes to this motor we've now measured over 400. This will remain our backup motor, we are building a better to be the main motor.

Might be something like ~420HP based on the fuel consumption.

Hi! Long time and no updates... last summers Bonneville plan "gone south" as we blew our main motor in our last tests in beginning of August 2012. But we are on again and definitely coming to BUB event this year, with or without our bike.  :hys:

Anyway, any educated guess available would our bike hit the "MPS" or "APS" class with this tail fairing:

And why so big? Guess...

Most busas remove the tail light lense to qualify for MPS or change the wheelbase

Take this from the standpoint that I am reflected on the rules from the ECTA rulebook not SCTA.

I just went through this about my tail section and oddly for the same reason. You are fine for MPS if the tail section stops within 3" of the back of the rear wheel.  This assumes your wheelbase is within 10% of the offical published length (Japanese companies have a tendency to push the adjuster all the way forward for those figures) Now If one is using OEM plastics (not copies of copies of Chinese ones), the 3" rule shouldn't apply.

My bike is so close to the 3" rule that I could add a couple of chain lengths and be in MPS.

I've been looking at this: http://www.speedtrialsbybub.com/2013_event/AMA-BUB-SR-2013-V1.pdf

The pictures above actually are with a bit extended swingarm. We are going to use a stock length one so I think we are not within the 3". The 10lbs just won't fit into smaller one...

Looks good! BTW, how do you understand this: "Nitrous oxide applications must comply with crash protected shut-off valve requirement."

Is it enough that the bottle is fully inside the tail fairing and no extra shut off valves or so needed?

At ECTA, being inside the fairings AND mounted at the front and rear was good for tech.   However, I don't know about SCTA.  I do know that Guy Caputo (Tiger Racing) makes valve protectors that fits 2.5 and some 5 lb bottles,  he might be able to hook you up on something that fits the 10lbers.

And BTW, I do know how much work you have put into that bike... It's impressive!

Now, I just need to make sure my nitrous setup sprays in the correct gears.  :bike:

Thanks, feedback as this always nice  to hear!

Also as a newbie in salt, would be nice to hear how much extra weight others have put to rear wheel on salt? Our calculations are somewhere between ~150-300lbs as the actual friction of salt is not known.

Add as much weight as you can carry safely , there is no penalty for too much weight
the international long track has a 5 mile run up and you will probably cruise a mile or 2  before accellerating , timeing your run to reach top speed just before the timed mile .

I have the swingarm full of lead shot, a weight box filling the gap of the 8" swingarm , and a lead ingot on each side of the bike at the rear

I am of the firm believe you can have the weight too low and cause handling issues , i like to keep the weight at a similar distribution above and below the axle line as the original bike

Question about the extra weights, is there are rule that says extra weights cannot be beyond the rear wheel axle?

Correct, you can't place ballast behind the rear axle.
