recomendations for bore gauge.
« on: August 28, 2011, 11:53:52 AM »
I am looking for a bore gauge to get better measurements for bearing clearances (vs plasti).
I was considering this:

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/WESTWARD-Electronic-Bore-Gage-6XU87?Pid=search

It has a 10" depth and measures to .00005 In/0.001mm.

Anyone have any comments regarding this? I have purchased tools in the past (leakdown) that didnt perform as well as needed, dont want to make more mistakes like that because I am a cheap f-.

THanks

Measuring equipment is pretty much hit and miss nowadays....pretty much all of it is made in China, including the brand name stuff (Starrett).

I personally am not sure I would buy an electronic gauge though as it will either work or not...no chance of finding a little bit of debris or similar in it if it quits, just nuthin'. Not sure that I wouldn't either, but...

Any day on a motorcycle like this that ends just needing parts and labor is a good day.
