Bill, I got a little choked up when I heard that you came off the bike. I prayed hard for a few minutes myself. I'm so happy that you'll be okay.

Bill, wishing you a recovery as fast as your Loring run.
Nobody said this was safe or easy.
Take care
Have a Harley, spent lots of money on it, thought I had a fast motorcycle, bought a Busa, realized all I had was a fast Harley, not a fast motorcycle!

Bill has an onboard video of the run. The bike went through the traps fine but went over on its' side as Bill was slowing. We all have to wait until Bill recovers to see what happened.  LSL

It's great that the video is intact. Was his speed also recorded? -Dean

Received this from Bill's sponsorship coordinator;

This weekend at the Texas Mile, Bill Warner had a recorded time of 236 mph.  This is a brand new track for the Texas Mile at an airstrip known as Beeville, and was the first time they are running there.

Unfortunately, at the end of the shutdown, the concrete changes to blacktop.  Bill was still under hard braking there and went down.  There were also some high winds that may have contributed to the spill.

He is in ICU at a hospital in Texas, with four broken ribs, a collapsed lung, a lacerated liver, abrasions to his left knee and left foot, some broken bones in his left hand that will require surgery, and a possible damaged tendon on the left foot that may require surgery as well.

He should be out of ICU soon, and released from the hospital in a few days.

He is expected to make a full recovery, but is in a lot of pain, and could use a few prayers from everyone.

Our good friend Billy Shoemaker, also a talented racer in his own right, lives nearby, and will put Bill up at his place until he can make it home.

The bike only has damage to the fairings on the left side, and appears to be fine otherwise.

Thanks again to all of you for your support, and please keep Bill in your prayers.

Bill is a lucky man. It could have been a lot worse. He can certainly be thankful God He had more for him to do.

You're in my thoughts and continued prayers, Bill. Make it through!  :thumb:

Jay, good summary.
One small correction and an addition.

correction:
This is the second time we have run Chase field, did innaugural event in May with even higher winds.  The County did a buncha mods to the strip after May, and IMO really improved it.

addition:
Bill wheelied in 6th 500'+/- from the finish, came out of the throttle thru the traps and into shutdown, was not blitzing when he fell.
Wind was not particularly strong when he went down, although it could? have been a factor.

He is in good hands with Billy Shoemaker :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Bill,
cool yr jets, rest up.
You took a beating, please let yr body recover before getting after it again.
Karl

The 236mph was at the 1/2 mile. For some reason they didnt get the speed at the mile. Last I heard they were going to get the one mile speed out of the computer. Bills data acquisition will tell, but it will not be official.

I am now lead to believe that the 236mph was indeed the terminal speed and that Bill was coming off the throttle after a pretty sizeable 6th gear wheelie about 500'-ish from the traps.
