Hi, I hear what you say about the office job and tooling around with cars to keep sane.

What is the power output of the motor now? Is there a particular class of racing?
Just wondered, because the V8 busa lump delivers some useable power in cars.
Interesting and cool car though !
I have no more sh*ts to give.

Thanks guys. Yeah difficult staying motivated as when I spend a couple of hours on it at night you dont see lots for the time.

I went the turbo route mainly due to weight and cost. The turbo is pretty stock as we only race at 8psi though engine is built for over 350hp. The v8 would cost 10 times the turbo investment and then you need to spend a similiar amount on a racing gearbox. The car would weigh probably 40-50kg heavier

Excellent power to weight ratio on the turbo motor  :D
The way the Busa engine spins up so quickly makes it a lot of fun.

yeah they definitely do. Attached is a youtube clip of my mates race car with the same engine setup I have. As you can see its quick in a straight line. The car he passes down the straight has close to 300hp too. Puts power to weight in perspective

Finished machining the centre lock axles. They need to be shortened a little but otherwise they turned out almost like the real indy car stuff

I drove it down the driveway on Friday. stalled it once so second time I put my foot down. spun the wheels pretty quick

Here's a couple of average youtube clips from mate and partners phones

Head was sore the next day after celebrating what has taken 6 years

You are going to have a very rapid motorcar when thats done  :tu:

Bearing in mind I don't know your background with fast cars or bikes, but can I give you one genuine piece of advice for when the car is finished: Take time to recalibrate your brain. Your brain might need to speed-up to match the performance of the car/bike.

I can see your in for some fun !  :D
Enjoying your build !

Sorry for the delay in updating. Spent most of my time last few months on tidying stuff and and changing a few things that were bugging me.

Have installed the new plastic windows as well as finishing the sides and car underbelly.

Planning on sending car out to be body wrapped in next months then dyno time and on the track....

Its been a while since any updates. Car is all dynoed on base 5psi spring to test systems etc. Not great but OK for stock Gen1 that's done 65k miles

After almost 8 years its about to hit the track this weekend

Made it onto the track last weekend.

Couple of small bugs to fix. One problem I found when I got home was the sprag clutch has failed. Anyone see that sort of thing much in the earlier hayabusa?
